Chevrolet Racing Team Notches 11 Championships in 2015

Brand, drivers win titles across motorsports organizations including Indianapolis 500

We all know Chevrolet makes a great family vehicle, and those Camaro fans can talk your ear off about their favorite muscle car, but Chevrolet is a major part of motorsports across the United States and the world.

In 2015, Chevrolet netted 11 championships across major motorsports organizations including NASCAR and the NHRA. Jim Campbell, Chevrolet’s vice president of performance vehicles and motorsports, said winning these major races are always a yearly goal.

“What we learn on the race track helps us build better vehicles and powertrains for the showroom,” Campbell said. “Winning races and championships helps elevate brand opinion and image. Consumers are more likely to place our cars and trucks on their shopping list.”

What Chevrolet can do on the racetrack definitely is translated into vehicles such as the Camaro and Corvette, but the spirit and ingenuity of the Chevrolet racing division trickles down to the Cruzes and Malibus.

So how did Chevrolet do this year on the track? Here’s just a few of the team’s accomplishments:

—In the IndyCar realm, Chevrolet road its 2.2-liter twin-turbo V6 to victories including Juan Pablo Montoya’s first-place finish in the Indianapolis 500. Scott Dixon also won the Driver Championship, and Chevrolet as a whole won the Manufacturer Championship for the fourth straight year.

—NASCAR saw the Chevrolet team go round and round, and the trophies started coming around as well. For the 13th consecutive season, Chevrolet won the NASCAR Manufacturer Championship, making it 39 overall for the bowtie brand. Chevy recorded 15 wins, one being Kevin Harvick’s victory in Dover, Del., in October. This was significant because it was Chevrolet’s 750th all-time win in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series, the first brand to reach this mark.

In the NHRA, Chevrolet won the Manufacturer Bowl which is awarded to the make whose current model year cars earn the most points. Chevrolet also scored 29 national event victories.

Around the world, Corvettes scored victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans GTE Pro Class. With all these victories, it’s no wonder all the Chevrolets from the Spark to the Silverado to the Cruze and everything in between are fun, functional and have the racing spirit.

2016 Camaro Makes Presence Known for KBB Resale Awards

LT, SS trims both top their categories as Camaro ranks 8th overall; Tahoe and Colorado also make list

Another week, another award for the new 2016 Camaro, it seems. Kelley Blue Book (KBB) released its annual Best Resale Value Awards for 2016, and the Chevrolet Camaro topped two categories with both the V6 and V8 engines. The Camaro ranked eighth overall for best resale value for 2016 models.

The 2016 Camaro LT with the 3.6-liter was given the KBB award for best resale value in the Sports Car category. The Camaros at West Chevrolet beat brands such as Ford and even Porsche this year. While owning a Camaro is fun, getting a new one with resale value is “icing on an impressively fun and capable cake” according to KBB.

It was redesigned for the 2016 model year, and now the Gen Six Camaro is earning award after award. The new available 3.6-L V6 Camaro LT manages to give its drivers the best of all worlds: power, sophistication and value. Even with the standard 2.0-L turbo four cylinder engine, the 275 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. torque will still put some pep in your driving routine. Whether six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic, the fun doesn’t stop in a new Camaro.

If you want more performance while still keeping the resale value, the 2016 Camaro SS is the right choice for you. The SS with its 6.2-L V8 beat out the Mustang GT and Cadillac ATS-V for the KBB honor. Even when it’s not moving, the 2016 Camaro SS near Knoxville is still the attention-getter. For both the LT and SS, resale value estimates are nearly 50 percent by 2021 according to KBB.

Tahoe and Colorado recognized by KBB Resale Value Awards

The 2016 Tahoe and 2016 Colorado also found spots on the KBB lists. The 2016 Tahoe topped its competition such as the Ford Explorer and Toyota Sequoia. KBB called the 2016 Tahoe a “rolling entertainment system” thanks to its Wi-Fi hot spot capabilities. The available four-wheel drive makes it’s a capable family vehicle choice.

The 2016 Chevrolet Colorado ranked fourth overall on the KBB Best Resale Value List. The 2016 Colorado repeated as Motor Trend’s 2016 Truck of the Year thanks to its new Duramax diesel engine.

2016 Chevy Impala at West Is Impressive Full-Size Sedan

Special Midnight Edition adds attitude to KBB Best Buy award winner at West Chevrolet

When a model name that has been around as long as the Impala continues to win awards, people take notice. When that award winner is dressed to the nines in all black, it starts turning heads.

The 2016 Chevrolet Impala LTZ Midnight Edition is decked out in the sinister-looking exterior paint job with the black Chevy bowtie badges, black rear spoiler and mirrors and black grille surrounds and 19-inch wheels. Darth Vader would be proud. The dramatic look makes the Impala sleeker. It was based off a 2014 concept from the SEMA Auto Show.

If all-black isn’t your style, the 2016 Impala will still impress. The base 2.5-liter engine churns out up to 196 horsepower and has start/stop technology to aid the fuel efficiency. However, if you want a bit more power, the classic V6 engine can get up to 305 horsepower and 264 lb.-ft. of torque. The V6 is smooth, refined and actually quite quiet.

Opting for the LTZ trim will net you heated and cooled seats and a Bose surround sound system. A large trunk makes the Impala a nice option for Knoxville families looking for that new sedan for the new year. New technology offered for 2016 includes smartphone integration with available Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

2016 Impala — KBB Best Buy winner

The 2016 Impalas available at West Chevrolet near Knoxville, TN, have already been named award winners. Kelley Blue Book (KBB) named the 2016 Impala its Best Buy award winner for the full-size sedan segment. This marked the second consecutive year the Impala has topped its market competition.

2016 Colorado with Top Honors Is Total Package for Knoxville Truck Fans

Motor Trend 2016 Truck of the Year, most fuel-efficient pickup is the real deal at West

Rarely does a truck fan find everything they are looking for in a midsize truck. Perhaps you have to sacrifice efficiency to get four-wheel drive, or maybe the truck is unproven. With the 2016 Chevy Colorado at West Chevrolet serving Knoxville, TN, other midsize trucks scramble to keep up.

Back-to-back champion

One of the most sought-after awards in the automotive industry was claimed by a second straight year by the Chevy Colorado. Motor Trend awarded its 2016 Motor Trend Truck of the Year to the new diesel variant of the 2016 Colorado.

The 2016 Colorado manages to combine the ruggedness and dependability of a pickup truck with the technology and refinement of a sedan. New technology for Chevrolet — including smartphone integration for both Android and Apple by March 2016 — such as available 4G LTE Wi-Fi and active safety features make the Colorado the ideal camping vehicle.

Fuel-efficiency is not always an easy hill to climb, but the 2016 Colorado with the new 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine climbs it the highest and the best. The 2016 Colorado is the most fuel-efficient pickup truck in America, getting up to 31 mpg with the diesel engine on front-wheel drive models. However, if you opt for the capability of the Colorado’s four-wheel drive system, you’ll still get up to 23 mpg combined and 29 on the highway.

The new diesel engine — that’s what helped separate the Colorado from the competition. No competitor offers a midsize truck with a diesel engine. Already, that makes the new 2016 Colorado diesel in a class of its own. The available towing package means you can tow up to 7,700 pounds, powerful for a compact truck.

New 2016 Chevy Colorados near Knoxville are arriving every day to West Chevrolet! To experience the award-winning prowess that is a 2016 Chevy Colorado, contact West Chevrolet online 24/7 or give us a call at 865-970-9378.
