The Hatch is Back — Chevy Returns Hatchback to US with 2017 Cruze

The Cruze is Chevrolet’s top-selling vehicle globally, and part of that reason is the hatchback variant, popular throughout Europe. For the 2017 model year, Chevrolet plans on bringing the hatchback version to America.

As your Knoxville Chevrolet dealer, West Chevrolet is excited for the opportunity for Chevrolet to continue expanding its portfolio to offer the Tennessee new car buyers more options! As with the all-electric Bolt, this 2017 model year Chevy Cruze will add a new dynamic to West Chevy’s inventory in 2016.

Like the 2016 Cruze, this hatchback managed to shave off more than 200 pounds for a lighter and more responsive driving experience. Current hatchback competitors on American soil include the Volkswagen Golf, Toyota Prius, Scion iM, Ford Focus hatchback, Hyundai Elantra GT, Mazda 3 hatchback and the Kia Forte5. Many news has been made on the emerging CUV market, but it looks like the hatchbacks are making a comeback.

Like a Cruze but with a twist

Specs for the 2017 Chevy Cruze hatchback include a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine with up to 153 horsepower and 177 lb.-ft. of torque. With the seats down, the max cargo capacity rings in at 47.2 cubic feet. If you grew up driving a hatchback with a manual transmission, you’ll be happy to know that both an automatic and a manual transmission will be offered on the ’17 Cruze hatchback.

Many of the same convenience, safety and technology features that a new 2016 Cruze owner would enjoy will be found in the Cruze hatchback. Lane keep assist, side blind zone alert and the available Teen Driver package will help keep the Cruze and its precious cargo safer. The popular 4G LTE Wi-Fi availability will turn the Cruze hatchback into a mobile hot spot, and the new available smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will put the Cruze hatchback ahead of the competition.

An RS package will be available as well with features such as unique front and rear fascias, rocker panels, rear spoiler, and fog lamps.

2016 Chevy Malibu near Knoxville Wins a Car of the Year award

Reinvigorated Chevrolet sedan snags Detroit Free Press 2015 Car of the Year

It may be 2016, but the new Chevrolet models at West Chevrolet near Knoxville are already raking in the awards. The redesigned 2016 Chevy Malibu earned the Detroit Free Press Car of the Year award. The 2016 Malibu is in-stock and available at your Knoxville Chevy dealer, West Chevrolet.

The Detroit Free Press had high praise for the ’16 Malibu, saying that the vehicle puts Chevrolet back to the front of the competitive midsize sedan segment. A new look varies from the more conservative Malibu models of the past five and 10 years to give Knoxville sedan buyers something greater to consider.

Chevrolet had a checklist to check off for the new 2016 Malibu, and the engineers and designers did just that. The ’16 Malibu is roomier for a better driver and passenger experience. More technology has been added including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. Under the hood, two gasoline engines are available — the 1.5-liter turbo and the 2.0-L turbo have amazing fuel efficiency that will make the Malibu a viable choice for any daily commuter.

This year, Chevrolet will also be offering a new hybrid variant of the popular Malibu. General Motors estimates the Malibu Hybrid mpg to be up to 48 mpg city and up to 47 mpg combined. Taking cues from the Volt, the Malibu Hybrid will offer a stylish American hybrid that won’t suck the juice out of your wallet.

New 2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid Flies Under the Radar — But It Shouldn’t

Efficient, competitively priced American hybrid expected to hit up to 48 mpg city driving

When one thinks hybrid cars, Chevrolet usually isn’t the first name that pops up. But with the upcoming new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid, you might think bowtie when you think green car.

Borrowing the two electric motors from the Chevy Volt, the ’16 Malibu Hybrid is estimated to reach up to 48 mpg in the city and 45 mpg highway — and it looks good doing it. These estimated numbers can top the outputs of the hybrid versions of the Ford Fusion, KIA Optima and Hyundai Sonata according to Car and Driver.

Though it has the same electric motors as the Volt, the new hybrid Malibu has its own 1.8-liter engine with up to 122 horsepower, impressive for a hybrid sedan. Chevrolet said the Malibu Hybrid is already set up for maximum efficiency without any extra driver input.

The Malibu Hybrid also has the Volt’s braking system which is seamless and have more of a traditional full-gas engine feel, setting the Malibu apart yet again. The Malibu hybrid coming to West Chevrolet, your Knoxville Chevy dealer, in 2016 has the space of a midsize sedan, the styling of a Malibu and the environmental heart of a Volt. It might fly under the radar, but with this fuel economy, we think it will be soaring soon enough.
