2016 Camaro with V6 Engine Still Offers Fun Like Big Brother V8

Six-cylinder engine in Chevy muscle car still fires with same intensity as available V8

For decades, muscle cars were synonymous with big V8 engines, roar as soon as the key was turned. If a muscle car had a V6 under the hood, many enthusiasts would turn their heads away and focus only on the V8.

Times have changed, and while most muscle car fans would prefer their Camaros with the V8 engine, we invite these purists to see just how much fun they can still have even with a V6 under the hood. Car and Driver said the V6 in the new 2016 Camaro has “bragging rights” over the 5.7-liter V8 found in a Camaro SS from years ago.

This redesigned engine is now the base one found in a new 2016 Camaro coming soon to West Chevrolet serving Knoxville. There are 12 more horsepower than last year’s V6 trims, and the engine was a major part of the design of the most advanced Camaro ever.

The optional dual-mode exhaust makes the V6 roar, and those who love the sound of a V8 should get a kick out of what the Camaro’s V6 could do. When mated with the eight-speed automatic transmission, which Car and Driver called “nearly ... flawless,” the gear changes are smooth, firm and well-timed. And if you want to be in control of the shifting, a six-speed manual transmission is an option as well.

Though you may get a different experience behind the wheel of the V6 than you would the V8, the feeling will still be the same that every Camaro fan near Knoxville gets when controlling one amazing muscle car.

2016 Chevy Equinox Gaining Popularity in CUV Segment near Knoxville

Appeal of updated Equinox in the roominess, efficiency and features for Knoxville CUV

We all know the Chevrolet Silverado is popular; it’s one of Chevrolet’s best-selling vehicles. But what was No. 2 behind the Silverado might surprise you: the Chevrolet Equinox. Overall across the globe, the Equinox sold 25 percent more last month than in October 2014.

But why the jump in numbers? What can the new 2016 Chevrolet Equinox at West Chevrolet offer Tennessee families that make it such a popular choice?

The Kansas City Star called the 2016 Equinox a “quiet, comfortable, mild-mannered SUV.” However, Knoxville Chevrolet fans know that the Equinox is much, much more than that. For starters, the roominess is unmatched in its segment. This is thanks in part to the GM-exclusive MutliFlex sliding rear seat which can move approximately eight inches.

With this great feature, the back seat becomes comfortable and not just for someone who loses a game of rock-paper-scissors. This also accounts for more rear storage and makes it easier to add or remove car seats for infants and young children. A feature such as this puts the Equinox heads and shoulders above the segment challengers in terms of family convenience.

The drivers and those who call shotgun won’t miss out on the Equinox’s roomy features. Both front seats in the Equinox are available with eight-way power seats, and the driver’s seat has lumbar adjustment and memory positions as well.

Under the hood, the 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine comes standard and gives up to 32 mpg on the highway (FWD), and the optional AWD Equinoxes still get up to 29 mpg on the highway. For those who want some more performance, the 3.6-L V6 is available for fun with up to 301 horsepower and towing of up to 3,500 pounds.

Optional safety features include Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Parking Assist. Changes on the exterior for 2016 include chrome-accented dual-port grille and projector-beam headlights.

If you’re ready to get you and your family a new 2016 Chevrolet Equinox near Knoxville, call West Chevrolet today at 865-970-9378 or contact us online today! We are ready to show you our selection of 2016 Equinoxes and to find one that will meet your needs!

Upcoming Bolt Electric Car Adds Jolt to Chevy’s Portfolio

Chevy Bolt expects to be available by 2017 or ’18 in all 50 states

Car fans are also looking toward the future at the next best model, latest technology and advancements. Within the next couple of years, Chevrolet wants to tap into the growing electric market with an all-electric car of its own: the Bolt.

With the hybrid Volt already offered, Chevrolet is working toward the next step with an all-electric EV vehicle. The Bolt has been seen tested under camouflage and in spy shots, so it’s reality, not myth.

According to Shad Balch of GM, “... leadership has essentially fast-tracked this car into production” after the concept was shown off at the Detroit Auto Show back in February.

The Bolt will also be built in America, and there should be an estimated 200-plus miles of range on a charge. Taking cues from its hybrid Volt cousin, the Bolt looks to expand on the battery technology of the Volt and Spark EV.

All 50 states are expected to have the Bolt on sale by 2017, which offers an alternative to the proposed Tesla 3. Those in Tennessee who are looking for an eco-friendly or electric car will be thrilled to get behind the wheel of a Bolt.

An all-electric car will surely provide a positive offering to the Chevrolet portfolio and to the vehicles at West Chevrolet. As Chevy already makes hybrids, sedans, performance cars, muscle cars, CUVs and SUVs, an electric car will be a welcome fit.

“... it is a long-range EV that anybody can get themselves into. ... [This is] a good alternative to the luxury long-range EVs that are available now,” Balch said. “It's something that people can see themselves actually affording to get into. That's the message from this car.”

What are your thoughts on the Bolt? Would you drive one?

Domino’s To Utilize Custom Chevy Sparks for Special Delivery Cars

Select markets to test compact Chevy car before possible nationwide expansion

The next time your order a Domino’s pizza, be sure to keep an eye on the deliver car. Domino’s and Chevrolet have teamed up to work on the ultimate pizza-mobile with custom Chevrolet Sparks titled the Domino’s Delivery Experts (DXP).

There have been custom cars in the past, and then there are one’s customized with a purpose. The Chevy Spark DXP falls into the latter category. Up to 80 pizzas could be stored at once in the DXP, being able to feed a party of almost any size. These special pizza delivery cars will be starting out in 25 cities, and unfortunately Knoxville isn’t one of them. However, the DXPs’ successes could mean more cities across the U.S. in due time.

What’s special about the Chevy Spark Domino’s Delivery Expert?

For starters, a built-in warming oven is kept heated at up to 140 degrees to keep the pizza hot from Domino’s to doorstep. The interior is focused on delivery as the Spark is almost a true roadster — just one seat. Drinks, napkins, dipping sauces and, of course, the pizza have more room than a full-size Chevy van.

This is quite a luxurious ride for the pizza. On the exterior, an illuminated “Out for Delivery” sign lets others know that the fresh pizza is inside and en route to its next destination. No customizable ride is complete without decals that set each one apart. Each driver can customize his or her Spark with nicknames and other such decals.

The fuel efficiency of the Chevy Spark (up to 31 mpg city) makes it an ideal car for a delivery team, and with an industry as synonymous with delivery as pizza. A delivery path illuminator is a custom side-mounted light that helps keep the delivery order out of harm’s way.

The Domino’s DXP is certainly a high point of customization for Chevrolet vehicles. The ingenuity behind it shows just how customizable the Chevys at West Chevrolet can be, from the muscular Camaro to the efficient Spark and everywhere in between.
