2021 Suburban Comes With Top Tier-Technology and Comfort so Lavish You'll Love Being a Passenger

Jim Rossman of The Dallas Morning News is a technology review professional by trade and got a chance to try out the 2021 Suburban. His employer deemed the Suburban well-loaded enough with new technology for Rossman to take it for a spin himself. Coming in at 18.8 feet long and 6.75 feet wide, he quickly realized that it did not quite handle like his tiny sedan, but he began to have a love for its commanding presence on the road.

He enjoyed the extras that the High Country Deluxe edition package adds through the panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control, enhanced automatic emergency braking, power-retractable running boards with perimeter lighting, air ride adaptive system, trailer brake controller, and advanced trailering system with hitch view. The review vehicle also came equipped with the “mother load” of features as far as the passengers looking to stay entertained are concerned, with the rear seat media system that has 12.6-inch color touchscreens.

The very handy power-sliding rear console can slide back up to 10 inches to bring the rear cupholders closer to those in the back and has a small shelf inside where personal belongings can be stowed away during the ride. The onboard safety tech was one of the main reasons that Jim was reviewing the brand-new Suburban, and the list began with automatic emergency braking with forward collision alert, which will warn you of an impending collision and even stop for you if you do not take action quickly. Lane-keep assist uses a forward-facing camera behind the rearview mirror to helpfully scan lane markings on the road below, then provides a green-lit icon as a warning while nudging the wheel safely back to the center of the lane.

The Suburban will offer the ideal solution for many who are taking a long trip, which is a well-deserved festive holiday activity and perfect time to spend together! Counting the miles until you see your loved ones is that much better when you are sprawled out in a vehicle offering this much comfort. The side mirrors are equipped with blind-spot warnings, which are a lifesaver when you want to quickly see if the lane is clear. If you need to wait for a second to safely switch lanes, a bright yellow light will alert you. Another ingenious use of modern safety technology is placed directly in the rear bumper: there are sensors here to warn you if cross-traffic is approaching before you back up, preventing many a busy neighborhood or grocery-store parking lot mishap.

As we are now entering an era that is going to see various levels of autonomous driving become more and more sophisticated, it's features like adaptive cruise control that have definitely paved the first patches of the exciting journey. It not only keeps your speed but will slow down if you happen to approach a slower vehicle in your lane. While this does NOT allow for you as the driver to drift into territory where you are not completely alert, it will undoubtedly save lives and be of great assistance for those not keeping proper track of their busy surroundings. When it comes to greats like the new Suburban, it is true that “you didn't have it this good when you were a kid,” and maneuvering with this larger-sized vehicle is still considerably simple for the size.

2021 Chevy Tahoe PPV Offers Law-Enforcement-Grade Status to Keep Streets Safe

As we have always taken note of just how useful and multi-capable the Tahoe is here at West Chevy of Knoxville, this full-size SUV now has another important and life-saving duty to attend to: the 2021 Chevy Tahoe PPV is on target to handle police duties like a boss. Chevy has enjoyed a longstanding partnership with law enforcement to collect information and know which equipment, reinforcement, and technology features are required. The 2021 Chevy Tahoe PPV derives power from a 5.3-liter L84 EcoTec 3 small-block V8 that cranks out 355 horsepower.

The advanced technology in the Dynamic Fuel Management feature offers twelve different modes of cylinder deactivation designed to assure that the engine remains efficient even when adapting to the changing conditions of pursuit and rescue duties. Speaking of very high speeds, it also puts to use the high-performance rocker covers borrowed from the ZL1 LT4 engine from the Chevy Camaro, drastically improving crankcase ventilation. The ten-speed Hyrda-Matic 10L80 automatic transmission was developed as a dual partnership between Ford and GM. Since officers are bound to encounter situations that heavily tax the engine, dedicated cooling systems take care of making sure that temperatures of the transmission fluid and oil are kept cool enough to handle the pressure.

The challenges of police work also have a heavy toll on suspension, and this Tahoe PPV's suspension has seen modifications that added monotube dampers, coil springs, and stabilizer bars to assure that there is minimal body roll as well as preparing the driver to be able to execute different maneuvers. The standard Duralife brake rotors and calipers have been replaced with six-piston aluminum monoblock calipers and Brembo 16-inch rotors. For those taking a test-drive of the new Tahoe that only have civilian duties on their daily to-do list the Tahoe provides a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, a standard Rear-Vision Camara, and the Rear Park Assist sensor suite that comes in handy when squeezing into tighter parking spots.

Forward collision alert, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, and following distance indicator are other onboard technical safety features that help in the way of extra “eyes and ears” while in pursuit or high-traffic location. The alternator in the Tahoe PPV has been upgraded with one that is 47% more powerful, and a 760-amp battery was added to aid with the higher-power lighting equipment that law enforcement duties demand.

The longer wheelbase on the 2021 Tahoe greatly increases passenger comfort, and its towing and hauling abilities are similar to that of a full-size pickup. Its new independent rear suspension provides a much more composed ride and gives you greater stability during quick cornering. There is also an upgrade in the form of a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system mounted on top of the dash, and a wireless charging pad offered as standard works well in conjunction with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Premier trim provides numerous high-end extras for sprawled-out enjoyment including a 10-speaker Bose audio system, heated and ventilated front seats, second-row bucket seats, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitor.

2021 Chevy Corvette's Head-to-Head Race With the Polar Express May See Arrival Earlier Than Expected

2021 Chevrolet Corvette

On-schedule production has been an element of many new car releases that has unfortunately been altered this year, as unforeseen events took their toll on manufacturing and development worldwide. The good news in the form of much-needed holiday cheer is that things are looking up for C8 completion, as the Corvette Action Center reports that production has now ramped up to two shifts that can result in 186 cars per day, up from last month's stated abilities.

With this thankfully being the case, the scheduled arrival of the 2021 model has moved up, and just may beat the snow-and-icicle-covered clock to arrive for some happy owners by Christmas day! An official update released last week claimed that production is now scheduled to begin on December 8, which is a month earlier than previously thought. In order to achieve a lofty goal of 20,000 units for this outgoing model year, the 2020 and 2021 Corvettes may be produced side by side. Another promising sign is the arrival of the 2021 configurator, ready for those to piece together their favorite form of this mid-engined marvel that has taken the automotive world by storm.

This year's model sees the introduction of two new colors and new stripe options, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the standalone option of magnetorheological dampers. These employ the movement of fluid between different chambers by way of small orifices in the piston, completing the conversion of shock energy into actual heat. This addition is very effective in providing a smooth ride, and the stiffness can be changed by the push of a button. It's the long-awaited release that U.S. News claimed is “A sheer joy to drive”, with a V8 laying down raw power displaying the utmost sense of well-chiseled authority.

With a powertrain enabling it to get up to speed like a ferociously-launching rocket, gear changes from the dual-clutch transmission are surely the fastest and smoothest we have ever witnessed here at West Chevy of Knoxville. With the engine now mounted directly behind the driver's seat, you can lean in and take note of the magnificent roar present at full throttle, with the option to add an amazing performance exhaust. Where sought after thrill factor on the track becomes forever game-changing is with the addition of the Z51 Package: it provides an upgraded cooling system, performance exhaust, stiffer suspension, higher axle ratio, Michelin Pilot Sport summer tires, and restyled front splitter as well as a rear spoiler.

Carbon fiber side mirrors and a carbon fiber grille insert are other additives to provide an individual and stealth-like appearance, and a red or silver engine cover is an ideal choice to add a premier sense of spotlight celebrating the new layout. Heftily succeeding in a finely-defined territory where many sports cars can't, the new Corvette offers a massively-thrilling driving experience on-demand, and easygoing mannerisms on the daily drive's flip-side. At the price that the 2021 Corvette is available for, its aggressive stance, perfectly-honed interior, and driver-focused thrills are destined to be remembered in the highest of car buff regard for decades!

Add-ons in Time for the Holidays: 4 Performance Upgrades for the Chevy Silverado 1500

Making an already great Chevy Silverado even more awesome could be the perfect holiday surprise for the truck owner on your list, and as the most festive time of year is soon upon us it's time to take note of some new upgrades that are available. Did you know that if you choose OEM-backed parts directly from GM, your factory warranty is still good? This should provide all of our West Chevy of Knoxville customers peace of mind for the long haul when choosing sweet mods for their vehicle.

The turkey-and-trimmings-ready spotlight on "The Big 4" shone brightly on the GM Authority blog last week as they provided a close-up look at the products that will allow you to still safely rely on the three-year factory warranty. These 4 unique upgrades include the Cat Back Exhaust Upgrade System, Air Intake Upgrade System, the Front Brembo Big Brake Upgrade System and the Rancho Two-Inch Suspension Lift Kit from the Chevy Performance catalog.

The Cat Back Exhaust Upgrade System offers up to a 7-horsepower improvement, and the fine-looking 4.5-inch outer diameter dual wall with an angle-cut, high-polished exhaust tip is the ultimate visual statement. The system is a bold-on cat back and everything is included for step-by-step installation, while also passing the emissions tests in every single state.

The Front Brembo Big Brake Upgrade System features Brembo six-piston, fixed aluminum calipers, and Duralife rotors to yield an 84% increase in overall brake pad area and a 42% increase in rotor area to boost thermal capacity. The Duralife hardened rotor surface helps to reduce corrosion as well as offering stellar braking with less vibration. If you have your eyes on a perfectly matched set, the Color Keyed Rear Calipers are an ideal fit while aiding stopping power and improving brake life.

The Two-Inch Suspension Lift is a great way to see a quick improvement in ground clearance, preparing those who are eager to try their hand at off-roading with an awesome trail-ready upgrade. The front camera and power steering will require slight reconfiguration. If you're looking to conquer tricky terrain, this is a great starting point before you get into skid plates, locking differentials and other expert-level gear.

The Air Intake Upgrade System works hard to reduce air intake restriction by up to 13% and looks striking situated right under the hood. It is available for 5.3-liter applications and sports a high-efficiency dry media filter, a 98-mm outer-diameter intake tube and a matching MAF calibration for first-rate performance. After undergoing strenuous testing for corrosion, durability and performance, this system is compliant with every state's emission requirements and will not void your valuable Limited Warranty.

These 4 upgrades were officially announced during the SEMA360 online show which began on November 2nd. Along with other sizzling new Chevy products such as the Electric Connect and Cruise Package or Camaro SS drag racing parts, these are all great gift ideas for the Silverado owner in your life or a great way to treat yourself and boost your brand-new truck's performance with GM-approved aftermarket items.

Take a look at the upgrades here.

“Living Big in a Small SUV” With The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer AWD

After driving any car model for a week, the longstanding impression is so much better to report back on than just a short stint. The staff on hand at the Ottowa Herald spent a week with the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer, complete with All-Wheel-Drive and the high-grade ACTIV trim. It's a practical vehicle for busy families that love the functionality and form of a crossover, and you'll find room for five passengers inside. Every Trailblazer comes with 10 airbags and an array of safety features, as well as 54.4 cubic Feet of cargo space and ample head and legroom for passengers 6 ft tall and over.

All-Wheel-Drive models offer 8 inches of ground clearance, half an inch more than the front-drive option. In 1999, the Trailblazer felt like more of a truck with a robust and mighty V6 and even V8 engines. In those days crossover SUVs weren't as popular, and today the gradual transformation has led to customers raving over every new available shape and size. Power is sourced from the Ecotec 1.3-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, cranking out 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque.

The head tester from the Herald claimed after driving that Chevy had indeed perfected the “little three” with the turbo kicking in and offering up fantastic low-end acceleration. He pointed out a crucial factor that will convince many right here at West Chevy of Knoxville the Trailblazer is a front-running choice for a new vehicle: you won't even know that it's a three-cylinder under the hood, and when you get to 60 mph and hit the accelerator, the result and all-around performance is stellar. EPA fuel rating is at 26 city and 29 highway, and the larger engine offers up 30 city and 32 highway.

Off-road ready vehicles are now in high demand, and the Trailblazer is primed and ready with skid plates to protect the underside as well as the ability to fold the front passenger seat down to make room for outdoor gear. Every trim level of Trailblazer comes with Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and IntelliBeam Automatic high beam headlights. Parking is easy due to the vehicle's smaller size, and the MacPherson front strut with off-road suspension tuning provides an incredibly comfortable ride.

A 1,000-lb maximum towing capacity comes courtesy of a trailering kit as standard on every model, as well as four-wheel ABS disc brakes. Opting for the ACTIV trim level is where the interior ups the luxury factor with leatherette stitched seating, power driver seat with lumbar, and auto high beams. Every model features Android/Apple compatibility, air conditioning, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Another additive that comes highly recommended is the Technology Package: you'll get to enjoy a Bose seven-speaker stereo, HD surround vision camera, adaptive smart cruise, driver info cameras, wireless Apple and Android, and wireless charging.

2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2's Stance and Design “Perfect in a Segment Primed For a Renaissance”

One of our favorite websites committed to reporting all current events car and truck-related was right on point last week as they stated: “When the time comes to haul around the dirt for the fall garden clean-up, we all want killer trucks in our driveways.” As the leaves begin to fall this month and temperatures begin their gradual drop, at West Chevy of Knoxville we realize that many suburban dwellers will want to relish a perfect pickup situated in their driveway. The owner of this title shall have room to store, be easy to navigate and park, and boast a hefty amount of convenience features currently available.

The Colorado ZR2 pickup was ranked by the writers on staff at Wheels.Ca as the “Gold Standard” for the potential mid-sized trucks are poised and ready to deliver, and that many happy owners rely on every day. The ZR2's standard engine is the naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V6, which cranks out 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. The ZR2 offers off-road features many have come to expect: such as a suspension lift, Autotrac transfer case, cast-iron control arms, or front and rear locking differentials.

The Multimatic dampers are a key addition that also makes the ZR2 so much better than average, having the ability to travel from the hardest-to-navigate trail to easily gliding down the interstate. Maximum towing rating as 7,700 lbs, and as you “strive for the mountaintop” you can put to use up to four USB ports, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charger, and 8-inch infotainment screen. Proudly manufactured at the GM Wentzville,  Missouri plant, the 2021 model features a revised front fascia, the addition of three exterior colors, and is offered in the Extended Cab with Long Box as well as Crew Cab with Short Box variants.

All Colorados get a brand new tailgate featuring embossed Chevy lettering, similar to what is found on the Silverado 1500 and Silverado 2500 HD. The grille is now wider, with Chevy Lettering in the cutout to allow for more precious airflow. One of our favorite hues is the “Sand Dune Metallic” that looks better the more dust it plows through valiantly while navigating the perils of off-road excitement. Staking its claim as a Motortrend comparison test winner, it's a pretty safe bet that after you load up everything you'll feel ready to approach any slope or runoff with ease.

One of the Colorado ZR2's best features is its turbo-diesel powertrain, assuring that this is the most impressive off-road model in our lineup. 6 airbags, climate control, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and HD / Satellite radio and rear camera are other features that keep you comfortable and engaged while getting ready to conquer anything the vast wilderness offers up. Skid plates, rocker protection, heavy-duty lights, and a sport bar are a few other goodies that the ZR2 has up its sleeve to offer the best weekend in the wild anyone could ask for!

Suspension and Wheel Updates Allow For 36,000 Lb. Towing Capacity on 2021 Chevy Silverado 3500

Staring down the barrel of an intimidating workload would make anyone realize that they need extra-durable, strong equipment at their disposal, and their choice of truck may determine just how much they get done. Fortunately for anyone out there facing heavy hauls in their near future, the 2021 Silverado HD stands poised to offer assistance! Previous models saw their capacity at 35,500 pounds of towing capacity, but the new model has added 500 pounds thanks to changes made to the wheels and suspension, for a total of 36,000 pounds!

We have looked into the updated Silverado HD in detail here at West Chevrolet in Knoxville, which begins with the Work Truck trim level. Other necessary equipment is the regular cab, a dual-rear-wheel setup, two-wheel drive, the Max Tow Package, and the 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine paired with the 10-speed Allison automatic transmission. The 2500HD and the 3500HD already offer up to 15 available camera views to aid with towing, and they are "coming in hot" with five new trailering features on next year's model. The trailer length indicator makes changing lanes a snap during towing, and the Jack-knife alert assures that the trailer and truck stay aligned to prevent a life-threatening accident. While you are hitching your load you might realize that yourself in a hurry to make your schedule. The addition of improved rear trailer view makes the process easier along with cargo bed view enhancement and rear side view enhancement.

Owning a special edition truck is the ultimate opportunity to brand it as your own, and show your unique flair and personality. The Carharrt Special Edition for the LTZ trim is spiced up with a pinstripe design that uses the same gold hue displayed by the Carharrt logo. The hood gets extra black vents, the tailgate brandishes the bowtie logo, and chrome bits are present on the front grille. The Z71 Chrome Sport adds chrome accents and 20-inch wheel options, and there are other Silverado HD updates for the year such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. J.D. Power has named the Silverado HD as the highest-ranked large heavy-duty pickup for both long-term quality and initial quality, as the truck comes prepared to work hard for many rewarding and task-accomplishing years down the line.

The myChevrolet Mobile App is an incredibly useful way to keep organized with features such as pre-departure checklists, exterior lighting diagnostics, trailer maintenance reminders, and trailer tire pressure monitoring. Along with the extra towing ability as an excellent feature for a busy contractor or ranch hand, the StabiliTrack Electronic Stability Control System with Trailer Sway Control is on full-time duty preventing the trailer from swinging. During a sway incident, the sensor will detect the driver's intended yaw direction, while another measures the true yaw and sends a signal to the integrated Trailer Brake Control to take action.

Stay tuned for more updates on the 2021 Silverado HD, or come to West Chevrolet and test drive one for yourself! We know this is the perfect update to your personal vehicle or fleet!
