All-Black 2021 Chevy Suburban Street Concept Wows In Vegas

The 2021 Chevy Suburban Street Concept was introduced at the 2021 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. It begins with the High-Country Trim level and is dipped in black paint, which pairs nicely with the black interior treatment. It looks spectacular, and it is more than capable under the hood. It features a naturally aspirated 6.2-Liter V8 l87 gas engine, which cranks out 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. 

This concept is connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission, while Magnetic Ride Control Suspension with Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive components keep the ride balanced and smooth. For style points, the Street Concept is equipped with a new black grille that boasts the Chevy script, while a matte black hood decal adds even more blacked-out flair. 

It rides on a set of 24-inch custom-cut and polished billet aluminum wheels, which are wrapped in 33-inch 285/30 tires, and a two-tone polished and black finish along with black Bowtie badge center caps. Wheel size is leaning towards a larger and larger diameter, and as such, the Street Concept has upgraded Brembo brakes sporting six-piston front calipers.

As this fully detailed Suburban pulls away, you’ll notice a bow tie and quad polished exhaust tips, along with standard inner tail light graphics that draw attention to the vehicle’s height. The 12-generation Suburban is built on the GM T1 platform and is manufactured by the proud men and women of the Lone Star State in Arlington, Texas. 

The annual SEMA show is where brand-new concepts, designs that defy expectations, and new-feature rich vehicles are glamorously displayed. The Chevy Beast Concept that made its debut this year focused on the current popularity of high-performance off-road trucks and took it to the next level.

Under the hood is a 650-horsepower supercharged LT4 crate engine, which sends power to all 37-inch tires with a two-speed transfer case and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The tires are wrapped around 20-inch Raceline TRM260M Avenger True high-grade beadlock wheels. The Big Brake Upgrade system offers discs at all four corners and segment-leading six-piston Brembo calipers. 

This concept’s frame began with a regular Silverado chassis and was then widened to create what eventually grew into this visionary concept. The tubular doors and 13.5 inches of ground clearance are a dream for the Beast’s approach angle, which is a respectable 45 degrees. Much of what can be accomplished in a vehicle like this begins with the suspension, and this killer concept boasts a custom long-travel variety that allows the front wheels to travel a maximum of 12 inches while the back can extend three and a half inches further.

The Beast is capable of  desert running, and you won’t have to worry about the tires, with two spares ready on supplemental 20-inch wheels. Not every single truck owner needs to have the ability to conquer Moab or Death Valley, but knowing you have the goods to do so will bring a smile to your face!

50 Golden Years After the Beginning, eCOPO Camaro Race Car Concept is Born

It was fifty years ago that the original COPO Camaro was introduced to the public, and all of us here at West Chevrolet are constantly in awe of this car's potential for power, ability, and raw handling on the track. The new eCOPO Camaro Concept demonstrates a vision for electric drag racing, as the future has arrived, in the sense that planet responsibility and sustainability is at the top of many automaker's list, including ours. Developed by GM and built in conjunction with the Hancock and Lane Racing drag team, this new concept car is based on the 2019 COPO Camaro.

This is an entirely electric-powered car, driven by an electric motor that offers up the equivalent of more than 700 horsepower, and 600 lb-ft of torque. Testing time for the quarter-mile is estimated now in the 9-second range, and this is one concept that has pushed the power and racing envelope to the fullest, while at the same time channels the spirit of full-throttled and high-octane racing. Hancock and Lane Racing not only have a track record of success within the drag racing realm, but also benefit from strong ties to Patrick McCue, the brains behind the record-setting “Shock and Awe” electric drag racing car, and the Seattle-based Bothell High School automotive technology program.

The original 1969 Camaro models relied on the most creative engineering in existence to make them successful in the very exciting and challenging event of Stock Eliminator drag racing. The same level of dedication is evident in the ground-breaking new motor within the eCOPO, which sports GM's first 800-volt battery. This electric motor is based on a pair of BorgWarner HVH 250-150 motor assemblies, each with the capability to generate 300 lb-ft of torque, while utterly replacing the gas engine we have all become so accustomed to. It is mated to a conventional, racing-ready “Turbo 400” automatic transmission that boosts the motor's torque to the same solid rear axle put to use in the production COPO Camaro racers.

With the new 800-volt battery pack, there is a much more efficient transfer of power to the all-electric motor, and it is able to support faster recharging. This is all-important when it comes to the rapidly paced elimination rounds in drag racing, when time is of the essence. This is very exciting new territory in the technological realm, as drag strip racing is one very demanding and pavement-pounding performance arena that gasoline has dominated since its early origins. Each of the four included 200-volt modules in the battery pack weigh around 175 pounds, and are mounted strategically for ultimate weight distribution.

A full On-board Battery Management System monitors all temperatures and constantly changing critical voltages within the pack. It is also tied into a comprehensive safety system that is always evaluating the electrical components in a vehicle, for safe operation and proper function. This electric motor as the same bell house mounting pattern and crankshaft flange as the widely-used LS-family engines in Chevy's crate engine lineup. This is what allows it to bolt up to nearly any single one of the GM transmission family's lineup.

The possibilities are amazing and will open up numerous ways to limit fuel use in the drag racing realm, a place in which fully electric power was scoffed at just a few years ago. The eCOPO Concept joined the 50^th anniversary 2019 COPO Camaro race car along with two dozen additional Chevy concepts and show vehicles, finishing its run at SEMA in Las Vegas on November 2^nd.

SEMA Stage Set to Showcase Silverado RST Sport and Offroad Editions

As fall is in full swing right here at West Chevy, we are constantly browsing the news wires and web to see what is next for all of the models customers are constantly asking us about. Trucks have been “hotter than hot” as of late, and folks in and around Knoxville have been presented with some killer options to haul, tow, and climb their way around any fun weekend or workday situation! Chevrolet has now released a selection of concept trucks that will debut at the SEMA show in Las Vegas next month, and each one is designed to showcase the large number of personalization options that exist for the extra-cool all-new 2019 Silverado pickup.

The High Country concept is currently on display at the Texas State Fair, and makes the already-luxurious High Country next-level with a two-inch suspension lift, bronze exterior accents, and 22-inch wheels. Ultra-cool available accessories and performance parts, including six-piston Brembo front brakes with color-matched rear calipers, a 6.2-liter cat-back dual exit exhaust, and a cold-air intake upgrade are also available to put to peak performance standards.

The RST Off-Road is a much more rugged truck, designed to handle the elements of the wild and less-explored regions that abound right here in Tennessee. Here you get to put to the test goodies such as a 40-inch LED light bar, off-road Squadron lamps from Baja designs, sport assist steps, Sport Bar package, and illuminated black bowtie grille emblem. You'll get to tackle the tundra, dirt or dust with the help of 18-inch off-road wheels, wrapped in very knobby and able all-terrain tires.

The aggressive and urban-inspired Silverado RST Street is designed for city use, and is based on the new RST trim for the 2019 Silverado 1500. The suspension system is lowered, body-side graphics added, as well as exterior-enhancing performance parts. Specific tailoring has also taken place to make the 5.3-liter V8 engine sound meaner, and pleasantly throaty for sporting on the more crowded variety of streets! There are also now carbon fiber-look accents on the grille bar, mirror caps, door handles, and interior trim, along with high-gloss black 22-inch wheels, carbon fiber exhaust tips by Borla, a one-piece hard tonneau cover, and a blatantly-blasting 200-watt powered subwoofer and DSP amp kit from tried-and-true audio geniuses Kicker.

The LTZ Concept showcases the advanced trailering technologies available on the 2019 Silverado 1500, and performance parts for the 5.3-liter V8. There is a 5.3-liter cold-air intake upgrade system, cat-back single exit exhaust, and six-piston Brembo brakes up front as well as 22-inch chrome aluminum wheels. There are six-inch rectangular assist steps allowing for easy access, and the concept features a Chevrolet Trailering Camera Package, which is a removable accessory camera that can be viewed through the center stack display, after being securely mounted to a trailer.
