“Nearly Effortless” Appalachian Mountain 700-Mile Towing Trip Made Possible By 2022 Chevy Silverado’s Super Cruise

Modern pickups drive almost like luxury sedans, and experts at Jalopnik admitted to being troubled this week. They weren’t troubled in the least by the high quality of segment-leading trucks such as our 2022 Silverado, but at the fact that so many families are using pickups as sedans.

Today’s trucks can boast amazing technology and a very high level of sophistication, and there are now so many ways to make the job easier. One of the ways that had only been portrayed on fantasy TV for years was to construct a truck that could drive itself, and staff writer Kevin Williams was eager to take a 2022 Silverado High Country through the Appalachian Mountains on a towing mission. As he stepped inside to begin his journey, he noted that the dashboard and center console had been completely restyled, with a fitting blue-tinted leather coating on all the surfaces.

Open-pore wood and more selective use of metal accents make for a higher-end first impression, along with a 13.4-inch touchscreen with some of the best-allocated colors on the market. It uses Google’s new car-based operating system, which is Android-based and boasts Google Maps along with Google Assistant. The flow felt straightforward and purposeful, the interface easy to use, and with Google Maps integrated into the OS, it helps with Super Cruise’s operation.

Super Cruise was once available only on Cadillacs and allows for completely hands-free driving. Kevin’s route for this journey began in Columbus, Ohio, and ultimately saw him finish in Winchester, Virginia. This was 350 miles of towing that went through Pennsylvania and Maryland first, with a large portion of the journey not having any cell phone service.

Kevin had completed this very same route with the much smaller Chevy Bolt, and was surprised to feel that the application served him just right in a larger and more powerful vehicle. The Silverado’s 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque mated to a ten-speed automatic can easily accomplish tow jobs involving a double-wide, and his combined load was around 5,500 lbs.

The Silverado’s massive capability combined with Super Cruise allowed for the ultimate towing experience with ease, and he noted early in the drive that he felt odd sitting with his hands in his lap when Super Cruise initially took over. Automatic lane change isn’t possible during a hefty tow, but automatic lane keeping and radar cruise operate at 100%. Over the roughly 700-mile journey to Virginia and back, Kevin used Super Cruise at every single stretch of road it was available. It maintained lane position without a single issue through Wheeling, West Virginia, and all warnings that the system was preparing to shut off were given with plenty of advance.

The built-in LED light in the steering wheel will suddenly flash red, and the seat will vibrate to alert the driver. When Kevin arrived at his final destination, he was astounded at how alert he felt, after not having to squint, hyper-focus, and handle the wheel at every single curve. Finishing his review by touting this setup as a “techno powerhouse” with more than 10,000 lbs of towing capability, this was an ideal testament to just how good things get when the innovations of tomorrow are combined with the awesome features and brute force of today!

Chevy Silverado ZR2 Outshines Competition as North American Truck of the Year Finalist

The Los Angeles Auto Show was the place to get a first glimpse of exciting new models! Making the cut as a star-studded finalist in the “North American Truck of the Year” category, the Chevy Silverado ZR2 displayed outstanding superiority and dependability once again. The yearly NACTOY Awards bestow honor upon new vehicles in three categories that distinctively set selected finalists apart from the norm.

The categories were North American Car of the Year, North American Truck of the Year, and North American Utility Vehicle of the Year. These are all at the pinnacle of achievement and a prime representation of their segments based on excellent innovation, appealing design, safety features, satisfaction, and overall user experience. The winners are determined after three rounds of voting by 50 jurors who are an elite assortment of experts in the field.

Print, web, radio, and broadcast media all are represented, and they vote on an original assortment of 47 eligible vehicles narrowed down to 26 semi-finalists. After decisive second-round voting takes place, the remaining vehicless are then whittled down to nine finalists. In the North American Truck of the Year category, the Chevy Silverado ZR2 faces off against the Ford F-150 Lightning and Lordstown Endurance to vie for the claim of final honors. The vote that decides it all will be cast between December 30th, 2022, and January 5th. Not surprisingly, this year’s NACTOY finalist round had six all-electric vehicles among the ranks.

The Silverado ZR2 is currently a true industry great as its naturally aspirated 6.2-Liter V8 L87 engine dutifully cranks out 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. There are so many amazing goodies that deem the ZR2 a tried-and-true potent off-road warrior: you’ll be conquering challenging terrain courtesy of multimatic shocks, skid plates, and a chunkier tire set. We’ll be watching the Silverado ZR2 intently during the days to come as it will undoubtedly be on the radar of more experts, connoisseurs, and avid auto journalists worldwide.

2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 Provides “Ultimate Treat” with No-Trick Towing Ability, Impressive Torque Increase

America’s favorite truck is getting a refresh! The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 is introducing all types of goodies to the mix that assure the Silverado is the best-equipped vehicle in show for the 2023 season. There’s the off-road focus and domination factor of the ZR2 model, along with a redesigned front fascia and grille. You can choose from sweet new exterior colors including Dark Ash, Sand Dune, and Glacier Blue Metallic. Everything you need is available on a 12.3-inch configurable instrument cluster and displayed on a large 13.4-inch color infotainment touchscreen.

When the necessity to work or the urge to play hits you hard, you'll be handling your business with 13,300 pounds of towing capacity courtesy of the 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine. The 2023 1500 model also boasts a 20% torque increase for the turbocharged 2.7-liter inline-four engine. It consistently pushes the envelope with the model that Car and Driver claims is “consistently tough as rocks showing up for duty.” The 6.2-liter V8 boasts 420 horsepower, perfectly crisp steering, ideal brake pedal feel, and acceleration which Edmunds.com claims even mimics the new Corvette off the line.

The interior is more simplified, and everything is in front of you when and where you need it. Available for the custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country, the brand’s new updated turbocharged 3.0 liter inline 6 Duramax inches forward with a 28-horsepower gain and 35 lb-ft of torque. A completely retuned turbo, brand-new pistons with a revised combustion bowl, and new fuel injectors have aided the new diesel with its much more muscular stance.

The LT Model is where the more luxurious interior makes its mark, with the 5.3-liter V8 a bit quicker than the optional diesel. The Z71 off-road package appeals to many with its features that make playing in the mud much more accessible. Every version of the Silverado feels smaller on the road than its actual size suggests, and the Trail Boss model checks all the needed boxes for a can-do and very rugged half-ton offering.

Here the grade-A benefits are abundant with a 2.0-inch lift, extra capable tires, and other upgrades such as AEV Bison Front and Rear differentials. It also comes available with a 13.4-inch diagonal infotainment touchscreen, and 12.3-inch diagonal Driver Information Center, with all the road’s necessary info situated right where it's most convenient. The already-enjoyable experience is also greatly enhanced with available built-in Google Capability, which puts the familiar and accessible search engine’s accessibility directly situated on your infotainment display.

Sharp Eyes Capture 2024 Chevy Silverado HD Roaming the Wild with Production Headlights

There are many sharp-eyed spies out there assessing and tracking down the newest models being tested that we will soon carry here at West Chevy of Knoxville, constantly looking undercover as the new releases wait to come in and tension mounts. While the GM Authority crew has given us so many reliable digital scoops in the past about the refreshed 2024 Chevy Silverado, the latest showed a model with a bit less camouflage, and a restyled grill along with redesigned headlamps poking through a thin layer of front fascia camouflage.

From the first look at the photos, it appears that the primary headlights for the refreshed 2024 Silverado HD appear to have been moved just below the Chevy badge and its attached crossbar, which now resides in the upper quarter of the large front grille. As you gaze at the front it seems like this prototype may be a High Country or other very well-equipped trim level, and it remains the best look yet at redesigned Silverado HD since the prototypes first began rolling out in the public last summer.

This design is also showing off a brand-new wheel multi-spoke design with a gloss black finish, which will match the gloss black exterior color. The spies that caught this one wasn’t close enough to this prototype to make out the tire sizes, but an earlier Silverado HD High Country test truck that was spotted had boasted a set of 22-inch wheels wrapped in 265/60R22 Goodyear Wrangler Territory A/T Tires. A completely different prototype that was photographed had left the redesigned truck’s grille largely exposed, but with the original placeholder lighting elements from the past still in place.

The refreshed 2024 Chevy Silverado HD is also poised to introduce a completely overhauled interior, which will take after the refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500’s cabin as far as design scheme and technology options on board. An engine update is what many have been asking us about here at West Chevy, as the power source is truly the defining element of the nation’s most sought-after and burly truck! The revisions to the Duramax diesel engine will now push overall output to over 500 horsepower, and nearly 1,100 lb-ft of torque.

We are confident that your choice of Regular, Double, or Crew cab will not only fit your work personality, but weekend playtime needs as well. Easily recognizable are the High Country models, as the most visually distinguished featuring additional chrome and larger-sized wheels. Opting for the High Country also includes leather upholstery, a premium Bose audio system, and the very attractive open-pore wood trim. We’ll keep you posted right here on the blog about upcoming sightings, revisions to new features, and just how incredible and capable the incoming Silverado models will be!

GM Authority Blog Officially Lays Claim to Confirmed Development Stages of Chevy Silverado HD ZR2

As the warmer days are approaching here at West Chevy of Knoxville and we have our thoughts constantly stuck on wildly capable and burly trucks, the GM Authority blog just doled out the report on an introduction that every die-hard truck fan has been waiting for. The new Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 is now a reality and is primed and ready to be equipped with a wealth of equipment that is specifically geared towards enhancing the truck’s abilities in the incrementally rough stuff.

To properly equip yourself for the off-road fun that everyone has been waiting to get out and enjoy, the HD ZR2 will be equipped with revisions to the front and rear bumpers, and under the body, the truck will feature the ultimate in skid plates. When you first see a drone shot or impressive video of a truck making its way off road and its occupants having a blast, you wonder why they seem to be going slow: a bit lesser than aggro speed is still thrilling on the trail! When elements such as brush, boulders, and shake come into play, you must protect the most vital components of the truck while wheelin’.

The brand-new Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 will also be equipped with front and rear locking differentials, as well as brand-new specialty dampers. Finishing off the look will be aggressive 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, completing the overall vibe of a rig with higher ground clearance, more tractions, and more off-road capability when it comes to rock crawling and the overall adventuresome appeal of the desert drift. What many drivers wonder about most is what is residing under the hood, and the new Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 will be available with two great choices: the 6.6-Liter V8 L8T gas engine or the 6.6-Liter V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax.

As the introduction of the GM 10-speed is imminent for the automatic transmission replacement for the L8T’s 8-speed, you’ll be hauling and towing your way to a hard-working rancher or contractor’s paradise; topping out at nearly 1,100 lb-ft of torque and more than 500 horsepower. It has been all the rage lately to offer trucks that can bolster more hard-earned clout and capability off-road, and we know that our favored Bow Tie brand won’t fail to deliver, as the Silverado puts its sights further off the tame elements of the highway.

Many inspired nomads out there are looking for the perfect starting point when it comes to an overland build, and this would be the one. There are plenty of reasons now to want to venture out and get further and further away from the city, and incoming models like this will pounce on our predetermined means of raw-bred power to provide a capable means of consistently getting the job done.

Refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Configurator Up and Ready

All of the truck fans here at West Chevy of Knoxville have a reason to be excited, as the Chevy Silverado 1500 Configurator has officially gone live on the automaker’s website, allowing customers to create their own customized Silverado 1500. With the online configurator tool, Chevy customers can choose their preferred Silverado body style and bed length, along with their ideal engine, options, and trim level.

It provides an in-depth pricing summary of the user’s created vehicle, serving as an important shopping tool to help customers determine which specification is a good fit for their budget. The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 was officially unveiled last September and introduces revised exterior styling for the esteemed nameplate, along with an all-new interior design and layout and the most efficient of available technology.

The new model is far from short on engine options, offering the 2.7-Liter Inline-4 L3B gasoline engine, the lethal and potent 5.3-Liter V8 L84 gas engine, the trusty 6.2-Liter V8 L87 gasoline engine, and the 3.0-Liter Inline-6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax, all providing their own various forms of world-class pull. The 2022 model also now introduces the new ZR2, which adds unique front and rear fascias for drastically improved approach and departure angles, advanced Multimatic DSSV dampers, front and rear e-lockers, and 18-inch off-road alloy wheels with 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires.

The ZR2 off-road model is so awesome that the experts at AEV Outfitters were “moved by mountains” to try their hand at commandeering their own personalized model, providing army-grade protection and durability. This amazing custom-build can climb boulders, conquer rock, and bomb down canyons. The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is produced at the GM Fort Wayne Assembly plant in Indiana, with production set to resume this year.

All models LT and above will now boast the all-new 13.4-inch touchscreen as well as the amazing Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving aid. Towing ability has been increased by 4,000 pounds on the diesel model, and Dark Ash, Sand Dune, along with Glacier Blue Metallic are available as awesome new exterior color choices. The Silverado has also ditched the old-school column shifter for the available electronic shift lever mounted on the center console in models with bucket seats, and those who are wondering about standard safety features won’t be disappointed. This year’s model includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, forward collision alert, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, and automatic high beams.

In some exciting truck news, the GM Authority blog just reported that the optional Rally Edition package for the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 full-size pickup is now officially available for order.

This package offers black rally stripes, black Chevy tailgate lettering, black Silverado and trim level badging, assist steps, 20-inch-high gloss black-painted aluminum wheels, black bowties, Chevytec spray-on bed liner, black chrome exhaust tip, and the awesome-sounding dual exhaust.  Right now, it is only offered on the Custom and RST trim levels. On the RST trim level, the 20-inch High Gloss Black wheels can optionally be swapped for the 22-inch-high gloss black wheels, and any diehard truck fan would agree that this urban and smooth streamlined look will make your truck pop visually!

Production for the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will begin at the GM Fort Wayne Assembly facility in Indiana in just three weeks, as well as the GM Oshawa Plant in Canada during spring 2022. The 2022 Silverado RST is once again offered as a mid-range trim level that is equipped with a selection of features to give it extra street performance. Up front, the 2022 Silverado RST features a body-color front bumper, which is paired with a body-color grille bar to create a nicely drawn-together look for the brand-new fascia.

The rear end features LED tail lights while the 2022 Silverado RST’s rear bumper is also body-color to match the front end. There is a signature Chevy script on the tailgate, and the Silverado 1500 has four engine options that start with the turbocharged 2.7-liter inline 4 L3B gas engine, which now can produce 430 lb-ft of torque.

We love the naturally-aspirated 6.2-L V8 L87 gas engine, especially for how it can hustle up a hill or through a quarry in just seconds! Come see us here at West Chevy for this and many other immaculate models that consistently get the job done!

Silverado EV RST First Edition “Hotter Than Hot” Off the Line: Sells out in 12 Minutes!

Bloomberg is one of the reliable news sources that dishes out the scoop every day regarding automobiles, technology, living, and modern culture. We had watched eagerly as they delivered the scoop on the Silverado EV RST First Edition, and there was one sensational fact surrounding its arrival. It sold out in 12 minutes flat! GM CEO Mary Barra claimed in an interview that “reservations are still coming in, so we’re very excited about the response that we’re getting because this is a ground-up EV truck.”

Chevy plans to begin deliveries of the limited-run truck during fall 2023! Excited consumers will fully understand why the brand we love to represent here at West Chevy of Knoxville will come out on top in the electric game. The electric truck competition got even hotter as automakers will continue to make the eco-conscious transition to powertrains that forego the pump during the next few years.

It has already been promised that the Silverado EV pickup will triumph over the Ford F-150 Lightning on a slew of performance metrics, including towing capacity, driving range, and passenger space. Both retail and fleet versions will be made available with additives such as a fixed-glass roof, marking this the first time that GM has made this a standard feature. It offers much greater visibility, increased headroom, and a more space during the long haul. The presence of the Ultium battery gives the vehicle an estimated range of more than 400 miles when fully charged, along with the brand-new feature of Four-Wheel-Steer.

Dual motors will turn all four wheels showcasing as much as 664 horsepower and over 780 lb-ft of torque. Official testing has rendered the 0-60 mph time in just under 4.5 seconds. When the premise of electrification was first a farfetched idea, fast charging was an option that was going to make the choosiest purchasers finally convert. Modern technology has reached a point of busy schedule saving marvel: DC fast charging at 350 kW will provide 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

Towing capacity is one of the main draws of a truck; the Silverado EV can effectively do rounds on the daily with a 10,000-lb trailer or 1,300 lbs of cargo in the bed. The RST provides exciting features such as automatic adaptive air suspension, rear-wheel steering, Super Cruise, and a configurable pickup bed with the Multi-Flex Midgate. Everyone has been loving the effect that larger screens have on the interior, and we do not blame them! The RST brandishes a 17.0-inch center screen that stretches to an 11-inch digital instrument display.

2022 Silverado ZR2 Arrives Fresh From the Factory With Multimatic Dampers, 6.2-Liter V8

The 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 is ready to announce itself as the most off-road ready truck in its class!

The Silverado ZR2 is now equipped with advanced Multimatic DSSV dampers and completely retuned springs to deliver greatly improved front and rear suspension travel. You’ll also benefit from front and rear e-lockers for enhanced traction, while the high-approach steel front bumper now has removable front-end caps.

Motor Trend called the ZR2 “amazingly rugged and ready'' after they took it for a spin and loved the off-road capability. 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires are ready to roll, and underbody skid plates are in place to protect undercarriage. The most intense roads and trails demand appropriate clearance, and the Silverado ZRZ is up to the task with 11.2 inches of ground clearance, a 31.8-degree approach angle, 23.4-degree breakover angle, and 23.3 degree departure angle. The exhaust is positioned behind the bumper to avoid the dents and dings that come with frequent bumps.

The new redesign lowers the headlamps and adds animated lighting sequences that are active when you start the vehicle or walk away. All LT trims and up now have built-in Google compatibility, which is quickly accessible with the push-to-talk button right on the wheel. The High Country now boasts Super Cruise, which provides hands-free navigation on most major thoroughfares in the US. With all its amazing technology and off-road capability, the ZR2 is perfect for the rock-crawling and canyon-climbing crowd!

2023 Chevy Silverado EV’s CES Debut Will Display “Stunning” First Glimpse with Batteries and Massively-Capable Modular Platform

When the Chevy Silverado EV makes its debut during the star-studded 2022 CES show in Las Vegas, it will undoubtedly mark the beginning of the electric era. Sporting ingeniously engineered new Ultium batteries as well as a brand-new modular platform underneath, we know this EV is going to have all the spectacular bells and whistles to compete in the growing market.

Many rumors suggest there may be a 1,000-horsepower Silverado at some point, with the feature-rich base model still blazing off the line with 500-horsepower. All-wheel drive will be standard on the Silverado, and the total driving range is one of the features that is sure to impress.

The Silverado EV will boast up to 400 miles of range with the highest-end 200-kWh battery pack, which is substantially more than the GMC Hummer EV’s 350-mile range. There won’t be a huge visual difference between the gas-powered Silverado we all know and its new Earth-conscious electric counterpart.

The shape is for the most part the same, and a few of the best rendering artists have made educated guesses regarding what the incoming Silverado may look like. There may be a few noticeable updates to the rear end, including refreshed taillights and unique detailing on the tailgate. The truck that is proudly making its way to the CES show will show off an extra-large moonroof, along with 24-inch wheels. Michigan roots have always defined Chevy’s amazing manufacturing process, and the Silverado EV will be built at GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck Factory Zero Facility in Michigan, with 2.2 billion invested into the facility to date.

ZR2 Gives Silverado Fans Even More Reason to be Excited

The fully-refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 made its official debut this September, and the coming Silverado ZR2 will arrive with even more great incentives features!

The ZR2’s off-road ability at an affordable price will make for an amazing truck that off-roaders will immediately embrace. Some of the most notable features are the Mutlimatic DSSV dampers and re-tuned springs that will provide greatly improved front and rear suspension travel, along with front and rear e-lockers that enhance traction.

18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory Tires and underbody skid plates will be working overtime to protect the vitals underneath. The ZR2 arrives with 11.2 inches of ground clearance, a 31.8-degree approach angle, 23.4 degree breakover angle, and a 23.3 degree departure angle. Power is derived from GM’s naturally aspirated 6.2 V8 L87 gasoline engine, cranking out 420 horsepower and 460 lb/ft of torque. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and 4WD, this is one awesome machine to keep in mind when filling out your list for Santa!

The Silverado has long been the backbone of Chevy’s lineup, and making it more off-road capable is guaranteed to be a huge draw for already satisfied fans! Trail crawling is a forte that is best achieved with a rig that has seen special attention in the engineering and design department. In America there is so much left to explore, and the incoming ZR2 will be able to make its own way under pressure from boulders, fierce weather elements, and the abundance of wide-open spaces waiting for tough home-built rigs like this one!

The annual SEMA show is where brand-new concepts, designs that defy expectations, and new-feature rich vehicles are glamorously displayed. The Chevy Beast Concept that made its debut this year focused on the current popularity of high-performance off-road trucks and took it to the next level.

Under the hood is a 650-horsepower supercharged LT4 crate engine, which sends power to all 37-inch tires with a two-speed transfer case and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The tires are wrapped around 20-inch Raceline TRM260M Avenger True high-grade beadlock wheels. The Big Brake Upgrade system offers discs at all four corners and segment-leading six-piston Brembo calipers.

This concept’s frame began with a regular Silverado chassis and was then widened to create what eventually grew into this visionary concept. The tubular doors and 13.5 inches of ground clearance are a dream for the Beast’s approach angle, which is a respectable 45 degrees. Much of what can be accomplished in a vehicle like this begins with the suspension, and this killer concept boasts a custom long-travel variety that allows the front wheels to travel a maximum of 12 inches while the back can extend three and a half inches further.

The Beast is capable of  desert running, and you won’t have to worry about the tires, with two spares ready on supplemental 20-inch wheels. Not every single truck owner needs to have the ability to conquer Moab or Death Valley, but knowing you have the goods to do so will bring a smile to your face!

2021 Chevy Silverado’s Capable V8, High Country Additives, Tow and Cargo Properties Impress Yet Again

For the second year in a row, our favorite truck at West Chevy saw a round of exciting updates. A brand-new configurable tailgate and upgraded trailer-towing technology are a few reasons the 2021 Silverado is raising the bar substantially for its entire class.

Its hefty 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management Technology, electronically controlled 10-speed automatic transmission, and automatic engine braking all make it a reliable hauler. This is the same engine that can be found in the always-popular Corvette Stingray C8, and it boasts the ability to turn off cylinders when they are not needed. The High Country trim takes power to the next level: its towing capability is up to 9,200 lbs when paired with the 6.2-liter V8.

The Deluxe Package includes the added safety protection with forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist with lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, front pedestrian braking, safety alert seat, a power sunroof, all-weather floor liners, and 22-inch all-season tires. The Multi-Flex Tailgate is a blessing for anyone who needs to load cargo efficiently, as you can easily control it with a button inside the cab or on the key fob. The inner gate with work surface provides a handy standing desk space that is perfect for using a laptop on a job site.

The primary gate load stop helps prevent extra-long items from suddenly sliding out of the bed, and the full-width step can support 375 pounds. The Cnet.com staff billed the 2021 Silverado as “capable and comfortable,” and they were impressed by its genuine appeal and distinctive design. Every engine option can be paired with a 70-inch short bed, 79-inch standard bed, or 98-inch-long bed, and three axle ratios are offered with the choice of two and four-wheel drive.

Numerous 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Trims Now Powered By Standard 2.7-Liter Engine

From trips to the pumpkin to a day of heavy hauling, there’s no limit to the fall activities you can do with a brand-new Silverado from West Chevy of Knoxville. The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 arrives with a variety of new changes and updates, and the inclusion of the turbocharged 2.7-Liter inline-4 L3B gas engine is now offered as standard on many of the trim levels.

The Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, and LT trims all are now offering this engine as standard, while the RST Crew Cab Models offer the 5.3-Liter V8 L84. This unique engine is rated at 310 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, which is a significant boost over the previously used L3B model. It also incorporates double-overhead cams and Active Fuel Management, and flaunts a towing capacity of 9,500 pounds.

The 2022 Silverado has been generating plenty of attention, as it is a newly-revamped truck that displays an adventurous spirit, durable industrial strength, and capable engines such as the 5.3-Liter V8 L84 gasoline model. The exterior saw upgrades throughout the entire trim line, and the addition of the ZR2 model preps this famous truck for a bold run on the trail.

Every new Silverado will get a brand-new front fascia along with lowered headlights and Sand Dune, Dark Ash, and Glacier Blue Metallic paint hues are more available colors to make things visually pop in the color department. Die-hard Silverado fans will appreciate the carrying on of basic core elements such as the roll-formed high-strength steel bed floor construction, 12 standard tie-downs, and the optional Multi-Flex tailgate. Everyone who loves trucks and luxury is going to love the High Country model: it comes standard with open-pore wood trim, leather seating surfaces, and a pristine-sounding Bose audio system.

2021 Chevy Silverado’s Turbocharged 2.7-Liter Inline-4 L3B Gasoline Engine Shines as Standard Option

The turbocharged 2.7-liter Inline 4 L3B gasoline engine has been the power source for the Chevy Silverado 1500 Pickup range, and will soon serve as the standard engine for the 2022 Chevy Silverado Limited. The 2022 Silverado refresh will go into production during late 2022 and the L3B will be the power source for the most popular vehicle the bowtie brand offers. With its consistently work-ready stature and amazing track record for performance, the Silverado has been appreciated for its handling, suspension, and available technology options for years.

The 2021 Silverado 1500 rides on the T1 body-on-frame platform used in the 2021 GMC Sierra pickup, the 2021 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, and the 2021 Cadillac Escalade. An all-American testament to quality, the Silverado easily secured a spot on the KBB.com best resale value top ten list. Proudly boasting 460 lb-ft of torque and a 9,500-lb towing capacity, the Silverado can tackle any job.

With more camera views than any other competitor, the Silverado helps make your next haul easy. Drivers will love the Durabed, as it’s designed to help you get more done, whether it's hauling 2x4’s, plywood, or anything else that needs to be moved. The lighting elements on the 2021 Silverado are simply amazing: they include pillar lamps angled toward the front of the box, hitch area lighting to help at night, and cab-mounted cargo lights.

The new Multi-Flex Tailgate is available on all eight trim levels and offers six functions designed to aid with loading, unloading, and accessing the cargo bed. The load stop helps prevent larger cargo items from sliding right out of the bed, and the inner gate folds down to allow a much further reach directly into the bed. To keep your eyes where they need to be while on the road, an available multi-color 15-inch diagonal Head-Up Display shows you active safety alerts, speed, and available navigation features in real-time.

The cabin now sports more size in almost every way, offering more shoulder room and rear passenger space than the previous generation, as well as segment-leading front head and leg room. Don’t forget to check out the myChevrolet Mobile App: it lets you turn your compatible mobile device into a highly functioning center of command, putting control over your Chevy vehicle at your fingertips. While in the comfort of the Silverado’s cabin, you can stream your favorite songs, catch up on daily news, or take in your favorite podcasts while you enjoy the most tremendous and everyday-practical truck in the industry!

2020 Chevy Silverado Proves to be Immensely “Smooth Operator” Post Test-Drive

It's the first time in decades that the Chevy Silverado 1500-size pickup is available with both a diesel motor and an inline-six, and seasoned car writer Gary Gastelu was one of the first on the scene with the news scoop on his blog. The turbocharged 3.0-liter Duramax makes a large splash in the light-duty diesel segment while brandishing its straight-6 design, which operates on fewer moving parts than a V6, and a firing order with more balance and smoother operation. It's an all-new GM designed engine that is also found in the GMC Sierra 1500 and will soon be found in Chevy's  full-size SUVs.

It cranks out 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. For the two-wheel-drive models, the Duramax nails down a 33 mph EPE fuel economy rating, which is better than any pickup that exists.  When equipped with 4-wheel drive, it is in a tie of sorts with the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel 4x4 ranked at 29 mpg. During his extensive test drive, Gary was able to get his 4x4 Silverado LTZ crew cab over 30 mph by hovering around 60 mph, which has always seemed a good median point for full-sized truck effective use.

When it really comes down to the feel of the truck while driving, it has been said to feel more like a V8 than most diesels do. The pistons stand up and rev when you accelerate and is a trait that  makes a solid argument for itself every time you pull up at the pump. Considering what the fuel price average is right now in Anytown, USA, the diesel will save the average driver around $1,000 a year in fuel costs over 15,000 miles when put to the test right next to the 6.2-liter V8.

This is a truck that was designed to deliver the ultimate in both performance and efficiency, and technologies are at play every single second to optimize every drop of fuel, and make the Silverado more aerodynamic than ever before. Nicola Menarini is the head director for diesel truck engine program execution, and she had adamantly claimed early last year that Chevy had leveraged our global diesel expertise to assure this engine offered the performance and durability all of our customers demand daily. Within the aluminum engine block are iron cylinder liners, a forged steel crankshaft, and connecting rods as well as blended silicon/aluminum pistons for greater heat resistance and reduction in expansion.
A brand-new active thermal management system warms up components quickly for better efficiency, and the exhaust brake available in tow-haul mode provides more driver confidence when descending downhill. All of us here on staff at West Chevy of Knoxville are also so keen on one other feature of this best purchase for 2020: the driver-selectable stop start technology enhances fuel economy by completely shutting off the engine at stoplights and other situations, and then restarts automatically when the driver takes their foot off the brake!

2021 Silverado Realtree Edition: Sensational Splash of Camo + Off-Road Prowess

One attribute of truck buyers we have realized here at West Chevy of Memphis is that outdoorsmen are perhaps some of the most loyal pickup truck buyers of all. In celebration of men and women everywhere that can't control their urge to hunt, fish, and be as far away from the city as possible, the 2021 Silverado Realtree Edition is a special appearance package that is built upon the 4-wheeling Custom Trail Boss trim. Chevy's partnership with the camouflage brand first came about with the 2016 Silverado Realtree Edition, and it now sees an upgrade for the half-ton pickup's fourth generation in existence.

For starters, there is a splash of camo graphics on the Silverado's bed as well as its hood, and inside components like the door handle grabs have been covered with the distinct camo. The Realtree logo is also present on the durable bedliner, and the Custom Trail Boss extras such as two-inch factory suspension lift and upsized Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires are on deck for off-road mastery.

This Realtree Edition also comes fully equipped with Chevy's Z71 off-road package, which offers up Hill Descent Control, Rancho monotube shocks, skid plates, an automatic locking rear differential, and an AutoTrac two-speed transfer case. The standard engine is a 5.3-liter V8, and you can choose to upgrade to the 6.2-liter if you desire, upping the ante to 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The heftier option is paired to the 10-speed automatic, while the first one runs in conjunction with the six-speed gearbox. Disappointingly for some, it doesn't currently look like the 3.0-liter Duramax diesel inline-six will be available, since it can only integrate with the Silverado LT and higher trims.

The staff on duty at Motor Trend remarked this year that the 2021 Silverado possesses “Phenomenal powertrains, responsive steering, and over-the-top pulling power”. Motor1.com called the Trail Boss trim “Tough as nails and a helluva ride” and doled out extra appreciation for the hidden storage compartments under the front seats and rear bench, and the number of USB ports found within the center console and back seat.
The new Silverado’s exterior sheet metal is nothing short of revolutionary, and we feel it’s a show-stealer as far as the continuing rivalry with the menacing cross-town Dodge Ram! When you come to see us here for a test drive, you’ll be impressed with the handling and stability of the Duratrac Mud-Terrain tires: they redefine the “go anywhere” mantra with their knobby makeup and expert design!

The Scoop on 2020 Chevy Silverado Diesel's Efficiency: #1 in America

It is official this week that the Chevy Silverado diesel can lay claim to the full-size pickup fuel economy top spot. The two-wheel-drive trucks powered by the new 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder turbo are set to get an EPA rating of 33 mpg when they hit the dealer's lots this fall. This beats the Ford F-150 Diesel's 30 mpg rating by a distinct 10 percent. The 4-wheel drive variants are listed at 29 mpg, which resides at 1 mpg more than the Ford, and both drivetrains sport the 23 mpg stat for city driving.

All of us here at West Chevy of Knoxville have paid close attention over the last few months to the benefits the incoming Silverado model will receive from the engine's advanced thermal management system, aerodynamic improvements, and the use of a 10-speed automatic transmission. The all-new motor is heftily responsible for 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque and boasts a towing rating of 9,300 pounds. The LT, RST, LTZ, and High Country trims will all have diesel availability, and Chevy marketing director Sandor Piszar claims more could be built if demand is high enough. The upcoming 2020 Ram 1500 diesel hasn't released fuel economy numbers yet, but it's a 3.0-liter V6 rated at 260 hp, and putting out 480 lb-ft of torque.

Adaptive Cruise Control will finally be available on the Silverado, and also on board is the completely game-changing New Advanced Trailering System option that supports up to 15 camera views. Even though the straight-six layout takes up a bit more space in the engine compartment, the ultimate payoff is greater torque output and the ability to run much smoother. If towing is on your daily agenda, the category of power that you get with diesel is one of those traits that makes a huge difference when you have a strong need for range while towing.

Ranchers and contractors come immediately to mind in regards to diesel, who need a truck for their everyday duties that is as reliable as they come. Even when idling, engine vibration has been ranked as very minimal within the 1500 and during a cruise, it's easy to forget you're at the wheel of a diesel. Many professionals within the auto review industry have fallen in love fast with the Transparent Trailer view: it electronically stitches together multiple images that create a glass-like view enabling you to see through the trailer. The very brisk acceleration on the road as well as steady passing power are other great traits that are noticed as soon as you pull away from town and prepare to nail down some serious highway miles. Diesel is in all ways gaining traction, and we are happy to see that our own variant is at the top of the list in regards to the all-important efficiency statistic!

Knoxville June Truck Newsflash: 2017 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD Diesel Specs + Performance

Whether you are planning on hauling heavy goods around the Concord Village Historic District or itching to take a trip out to enjoy the nearby rugged landscape, there's no doubt that you have contemplated diesel. With the introduction of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD, an incredibly heavy-duty pickup truck that casts a 21+ ft shadow is presented to the willing fans of the rugged and able. Taking up 8 feet of lane width in it's widest form, this is a tried-and-tested work rig or anyone that has serious plans to build or innovate in the Knoxville metro.

The 3500HD is available in the driver's choice of dualie and nondualie, and those who regularly tow heavier-than-average loads will love the extra ability and margin the dualie offers. Spending just a bit more for the spreading of the load over four rear tires, and also adds 15 ½ inches to the width of the truck. During intense testing, the extra-wide 3500 dualie was able to come to a stop from a nearly breakneck speed of 70 MPH in just 199 feet. This is a mere 7 feet shorter than the dualie Ram 3500 Heavy Duty, and something of notice to consider when you are contemplating the need to have an able hauler that can semi-stop on a dime. If spending time in the massive wild and towing around toys that make your camping life better entices you like crazy, the upgrade to the 445-hp 6.6-liter Duramax turbo-diesel V-8 is well worth it.

The all-new engine in the 3500HD sees some notable gains over last year's Duramax mill, as horsepower rises by 48, with the trepid torque factor increasing to 910 lb-ft at 1600rpm. This is 145 lb-ft. More than last year's engine, and 530-lb-ft more than the base 6.0-liter V-8. The hood scoop is specific to this new and muscular diesel breed, and does a great job of feeding air intake for the rather large 403-cubic-inch engine. GM claims that this is a massive help as far as helping the engine run better, and keeping it cool with large loads in tow. It's not just helping out a friend in a pinch: you can tow just about anything under the sun from the Gibbs Drive Historic District on up to locations like the Cherokee National Forest.
With camping and boating season fully upon us, this is a vehicle that you won't regret having in your armada: this very impressive turbo-diesel V-8 engine has an absolutely unique power build up and prowess. The torque that is for the most part lag-free helps this 8400+ lb wonder machine move with full confidence, and the weighty Silverado did spectacularly on test track's pavement. You get from 0 to 60 mph in a lightening-fast 6.6 seconds, and the quarter-mile is accomplished in 15.1 seconds. These stats are actually in line with the Fiat 124 Spider Abarth, which is an overwhelmingly small slice of the weight at 2509 lbs.

Two cameras under each of the truck's large side-view mirrors, and another camera overlooking the bed can be installed to personalize your rig, and aid in off-road navigation. A very easy-to-use Mylink system has a very useful handful of hard buttons on the dash, as well as large knobs that make volume and tuning easy and simple. Come see us at West Chevy to take in the features of a diesel beast that can pull 11+ tons, and can wow you with it's quiet ride, as well as staunch ability to steer you into any fun or task-laden frontier.
