“Huge Hit on Our Hands”: 2022 Chevy Corvette Z06 Spy Shots Via Motor Authority

The general consensus over the past year through various blog posts and car aficionado websites is that the Bow-tie brand we love to represent so much here at West Chevy of Knoxville has had a huge hit on our hands with the mid-engine C8 Corvette. There are still models that are coming soon such as the Grand Sport, Z06 and ZR1, and even rumors of new hybrid models that will make their way down the pipeline soon as well.

The bloggers on duty at Motorauthority.com reported this past week that Chevy engineers have been spotted testing a souped-up version of the C8, and based on what past generations have offered up, you are here looking at a new Corvette Z06 that could appear as a 2022 model. At first glance it looks just a bit like previous testers for the Stingray but then you notice the wider rear wheels, which hint at it being a bit more track-tough and ready for even higher hits in the blistering acceleration department. On the Stingray the rear tires max out at about 305 millimetres, but the rear tires on the Z06 are expected to max out at 345 mm.

On the latest prototype, the front tires are already a hefty 275 mm and expect a few key changes on the interior as well. An official sketch from last fall had already shown what appeared to be the Z06's cabin, and the layout of the dash matched the design incorporated in the Stingray. The controls on the steering wheel were a bit different and had a giant red button with “Spec Mode” written on it. The instrument cluster displayed the layout of a racetrack, and there was carbon fiber present on many of the surfaces instead of the traditional leather.

The engine onboard is likely to be a close relative of the flat-plane-crank, dual-overhead-cam 5.5-liter V8 that was featured in the C8.R race car. When the overall power factor topic is discussed, we would have to agree that peak output is expected to hover around 600 horsepower. Even though this is a bit less than the 650 hp of the C7 club's supercharged V8, there are going to be plenty out there who have a deep appreciation for naturally aspirated power, even If it means the top end resting a bit lower. For those out there that are among the most power-hungry, there is a twin-turbocharged version of the new V-8 with a bolstered number closer to 800 horsepower expected in the new ZR1, and it promises to deliver the ultimate power needed to command your stance on the track.

At first seating and firing up up the engine, scores of automobile bloggers and enthusiasts have fallen in love with the new Corvette right away. The tightly-wrapped interior, off-the charts handling, and feeling that this is a true competitor against the big-named players such as Ferrari on the track have deemed the coming Corvette models as a perfect choice for anyone itching to spend summer blistering up the track!

2021 Chevy Colorado's New Face Roars Fiercely onto Autobuzz.com Blog Feature

The perfect sized and spec'd out truck for the pleasantly warm days of summer is enough to brighten anyone's day: even if it is time to go to the cubicle instead of the lake, you're in for a solid yet very smooth ride. It was last October when Chevy lifted the veil off the 2021 Colorado face-lift, and at that time it was only the ZR2 version that was shown to the public. This past week on the ultra-cool Carbuzz.com blog, there are some more newly released photos of the LT and Z71 trims featuring the updated styling.

At first glance, they look a bit less extreme than the hardcore ZR2 off-road variant that everyone loves, but still a bit more aggressive than the 2019 model thanks to the larger vents and bolder grille stance. The Chevy bow-tie emblem has seen some tweaking, and the tailgate has embossed “Chevrolet” lettering now in place of the previous model's bow-tie, which is identical to what is found on the rear of the Silverado. The air dam under the bumper has also been adjusted to improve overall dynamics, as the center part rises upward to improve the approach angle and the whole air dam can be removed if you need to.

Like the 2020 model, the 2021 Colorado is offered with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that produces 200 hp and 191 lb-ft of torque, a 3.6-liter V6 rated at 308 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque, and a hefty 2.8-liter Duramax 4-cylinder diesel that cranks out 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. We hope you come down to visit us here at West Chevy of Knoxville and check out the three new colors, new wheel designs, and a one-inch lift kit that has all been added to the 2021 Colorado options list.

The Extended Work Truck trim is where the pricing tier begins on the low end, and the Base Extended Cab Version is expected to be discontinued. Production of this 2021 model will begin at the end of June, and we expect popularity to skyrocket as this is the avid and hearty truck owner's dream come true: stiff competition in the form of Jeep Gladiator and Ford Ranger have recently emerged, and this is why the ZR2's looks were toughened up a bit for this year's release.

One of the most exciting things to happen over the last few years was the new partnership with the experts at AEV to join forces and create the ZR2 Bison: with front and rear differentials locked and multiple forms of armor to protect the undercarriage, it can conquer any jagged rock or otherwise hurdle-infested trail. What some say was the raw inspiration itself for Jeep to scramble hard and create its Gladiator, this expertly equipped off-road machine inspired many to stand up and conquer the many tricky trails in their area!

What KBB Loves About the 2021 Chevy Camaro: “The Punch When You Nail the Pedal”

The staff on duty at Kelley Blue Book have been educating the auto-loving public on the best and worst attributes of cars since 1926 and had the ferocious 2021 Chevy Camaro on tap for their latest last week. Just for starters, a few of the things new this year are the wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto as standard and the addition of the Wild Cherry Design package. Horsepower offerings range from 275 for the base turbocharged 4-cylinder on up to 650 for the supercharged V8. It is also pointed out early in the article that something for us here at West Chevy of Knoxville and all of our customers to love is the starting price is lower than that of rivals Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger.

There is the choice of coupe or convertible body style, and the KBB staff praised the new Camaro for its very tech-rich interior. They were thrilled with the 650-horsepower V8 nestled in the ZL1 Model, and appreciated how it does not have the sensation of a “straight line sled” like models from years past and feels a bit lighter on its feet. The testing site they picked was the famous Angeles Crest mountain roads of Southern California, then a bit of proper track time at Willow racetrack.

It was here the KBB crew noticed that the Camaro is at the core a pretty big car, and can feel even larger on narrow, winding roads. Once they got on the track, the mass immediately provided better comfort compared to what you would experience in a smaller coupe such as the Toyota 86. Their favorite attribute on the track was one that is quite understandable: the gratifying punch you get whenever you bear down and nail the gas pedal. Even the base turbocharged 4-cylinder version boasts the same output of a fully loaded V8 Camaro from just a few generations back.

Another favorite feature that the KBB crew saw growing on them right away was the convertible: after removing the roof, you get to bid farewell to the blind spots that are unavoidable with this shape and stature of performance auto. Inside, modern touches such as heated seats and the touch-screen infotainment system are welcome additions, and the driver-selector mode offers Snow and Ice, Tour and Sport, plus automatic climate control and a color driver-information display between the gauges.

Make sure to ask us during your test drive about upgrades like larger 8-inch touchscreen, and enhanced driver-information center. The SS model offers up magnetic ride control and dual- mode exhaust, which are both standard on ZL1 models. One thing to keep in mind is that even at the mid-range LT1 trim level, you get to enjoy the 6.2-liter V8, Brembo front-disc brakes, performance suspension, 20-inch wheels, and vented SS-style hood! The Camaro has been a legendary and lightning-fast performance car for decades, and we’re excited about just how awe-inspiring and memorable every single drive is from behind its wheel.

Sizzling Summer World-Building Opp: Tahoe and Suburban Configurators are up and Running

Autoblog is one of our favorite news authorities here at West Chevy of Knoxville when it comes to the most current scoops, and they recently alerted us to the fact that the configurators for the 2021 Suburban and Tahoe are fully functional! As the temps heat up and it can feel good to stay inside for hours on end, you can build your optimal-featured vehicle, and learn about the two new models while you're at it. One interesting example that the testers used was that of an airport or Uber SUV chauffeur for the Tahoe.

They began with the basic black entry-level LT spec in 2WD and then added the Luxury Package for the driver convenience and assistance features. They then threw in the Rear Seat Media and Navigation package for the passengers' entertainment, then added a locking center console, cargo shade, and black Bow-tie emblems, after swapping up to 20-inch wheels for greater curb appeal. Years ago many customers would have to spend a greater amount of time at the dealer trying to figure out what worked well for them in the long run, and simply looking at pamphlets didn't always convey the finished product.

The initial Suburban build was for a man who runs survivalist and outdoor courses and began with the Z71 trim, Shadow Gray Metallic exterior, and Dark Atmosphere interior. With the Z71 package, you are locking in a spec of Max and Advanced Trailering packages, and black Bow-tie emblems. Then, without getting completely out of control, they stuck with the Luxury and Rear Media and Navigation packages.

For another Tahoe build, the customer was a typical Midwestern family. They began with 4WD Premier trim, and Graywood Metallic paint and Jet Black and Maple Sugar perforated leather interior to match. The Premium Package offers up convenience features like the 15-inch heads up display and the trailering tech for its ability to easily tow a boat. They then up the ante to 22-inch Carbon Flash wheels, and Rear Seat Media for the kids as well as a factory-official rooftop tent. It will be perfect for Minnesota lake weekends, and the High Country Trim offers power with the heftier 6.2-liter V8.

We love the fact that you can dig in deep and think about all of your options when it comes to these two, and customize the vehicle that will be your daily driver in the future. The Suburban is one of those iconic vehicles that has displayed a track record of reliability that is for the most part unprecedented, and the two are a pair to be reckoned with as far as any form of competition at all is concerned. We hope to see you soon here at West Chevy where we can answer any questions about ownership and financing, and selection of the model that is a perfect fit for you.

Chevy Silverado Trail Boss LT Post Road Review: “Crisp Performance, Top-Notch Handling, Perfectly Spacious”

Tim Plouff of The Ellsworth American had the chance last week to test-drive the Chevy Silverado Trail Boss LT Crew Cab and report back on his thoughts about the quality of the ride. While Chevy still builds all three cab models, crew cab trucks now dominate sales – and that goes for all brands! This newest Silverado that was upsized last year offers the roomiest cabin, largest pickup bed, and revised powertrains that should easily meet any consumer's operating needs.
The Trail Boss trim includes the Z-71 suspension favored for a long time now by many Silverado buyers. Now, it includes the under body skid plates, front tow hooks, locking rear differential, AutoTrac two-speed transfer case with automatic AWD-mode, Hill Descent Control and monotube long-travel shocks, and 2-inch chassis lift. Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac off-road tires are mounted on gloss-black 18-inch aluminum wheels, and residing under the hood is a completely re-tuned 5.3-liter EcoTec V8 that cranks out 355 horsepower. Trail Boss buyers can choose between the 8 or 10-speed automatic transmissions, and this crew used the 10-speed that was jointly developed with Ford.

For this crew it performed flawlessly, helping to deliver crisp throttle response, very strong mid-range power, and the ability to get over the speed limit in a snap. This is where the group claimed that the Trail Boss obviously had much attention paid to it by engineers, who delved deep into gear selections, throttle mapping, and tuning the electronic throttle. There are six different engine options in the Silverado: base power is now derived from a 310-horsepower, 2.7-liter turbo-4 cylinder, or the 4.3-liter 285 horsepower V-6. There is a now a 3.0-liter Duramax diesel available, boasting 277 horsepower and the highest EPA fuel economy ratings of the group.
The very top of the line motor is the 6.2-liter V8 from the Corvette and Camaro camp, specially tuned to make 420 horsepower when teamed only with the 10-speed automatic. When its properly equipped, this engine serves up tow numbers up to 13,400 pounds. Other new goodies include a power-release tailgate, push-button start and access, teen-driver mode programming, rear-seat occupant reminder alarm, 15-view optional towing HD camera setup, rear seatback storage compartments, and a half-ton tow package with a trailer-brake controller.

The team on duty here at West Chevrolet concluded that the Trail Boss was overall very agile, and much more fun to drive than some of its sworn rivals. A radius that is ideal for tight low-speed turns and a generally more athletic stance during driving maneuvers even pleasantly left the group with the sense that there is a bit of Camaro hidden deep inside. Four years had passed already since their last extended visit with the Silverado, and the final verdict was that the interior had improved, the performance was crisper, and the ride dynamics had shot up a large positive notch to top off the experience!
