Four-Year Framework: GM Sinks Massive Investment into the Sustainable Future of U.S. Charging Infrastructure

The ability to charge your electric vehicle easily and efficiently will be one of the most pressing needs of the near future, as infrastructure will need to be put in place to sustain the many buyers who will switch to cleaner transportation. GM announced last week it will invest $750 million into electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the United States and Canada, and the announcement was confirmed during the annual Investor Day presentation earlier this month.

GM Vice President Ken Morris said the company will make this sizable investment over the next four years. The goal is to provide GM EV owners access to reliable Level 2 and fast charging with the high-tech Ultium Charge 360 system.

This investment will rapidly accelerate infrastructure construction across the workplace, home, and public charging stations throughout the US and Canada. GM electric vehicle owners now have access to more than 85,000 charging stations in North America, with operations overseen by third-party charging vendors making it simple for the driver to catch a quick charge. Seven networks are currently integrated into the Ultium Charge 360 smartphone app, with EV Connect EVgo, FLO, Greenslots, and SemaConnect being some of the most prominent and accessible. As EVs become more common, the expansion of an easy charging experience will be fundamental to the vehicles’ success.

GM has gone to great lengths to assure that EV owners have access to a charging stations anywhere they are driving so staying in town or hitting the open road will both now be feasible. Fully electric releases over the next four years will include the GMC Hummer EV Pickup, GMC Hummer EV SUV, the Cadillac Lyriq crossover, and a Chevy Silverado Electric truck.

The Silverado EV will offer a fixed-glass roof, providing more space for both front and rear passengers as well as expanded visibility. The electric Silverado’s 4-wheel steering system will also provide tighter turning radius at lower speeds, improved stability and handling at higher speeds, and the capability for trailering power once never thought possible in the electric category. Offering more than 400 miles on a single charge, Ultium batteries and drive motors will power this awesome incoming electric truck.

2023 Corvette Z06 To Be Star of New Chevy Feature Livestream

The incoming 2023 Corvette Z06 will be officially revealed in a ground-breaking feature film that will stream live on Tuesday, October 26.

There will be a panel discussion immediately afterward featuring a variety of specialists who will share their perspectives and opinions about this new supercar. Late last month was the first time that a clear photo was shown publicly of the Z06, featuring a C8.R-inspired front fascia as well as a stealth black “wishbone” trim element on the side air intake. The new exterior image brandishes a set of two seven-spoke alloy wheels, and quad exhaust tips are mounted in the center of the rear bumper.

The Z07 Performance Package will have a massive rear wing, new front splitter, appropriately sticky tires, and lighter wheels. The engine is as capable as they come, as the 5.5-Liter V8 LT6 produces 615 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. It also comes equipped with dual overhead cams, an incredibly impressive 9,000-rpm redline, and an exhaust note that rivals anything exotic and with a larger price tag!

You’ll also be able to snag the 2023 Z06 in convertible form, enjoying the fresh air and exhilaration the world’s best acceleration offers. The Car And Driver spy photographers caught the brand-new Z06 testing alongside a Ferrari 458 Italia, which solidifies the notion that the flat-plane V8 crank will be the engine of choice for this new model. When high-performance cars such as this are getting ready to hit the market, every little detail is scrutinized, and we’ve realized lately the wheels are going to rock!

The illustrious history of the Corvette began in the 1950s. The C1 1953 Corvette was a lightweight fiberglass-bodied two-door roadster and boasted a 150-horsepower 3.9-liter Inline 6 under the hood. An all-time favorite is the 1966 big-block V8 model: it was a 6.5-liter unit cranking out 425 horsepower with a 7.0-liter engine, followed up with the 1968 C3 which almost became the first mid-engine Corvette. With fenders always flared, a characteristic wedge nose, and engineers that have been fully dedicated since day one, the Corvette is iconic, groundbreaking, and will forever turn heads!

2021 Chevy Silverado’s Capable V8, High Country Additives, Tow and Cargo Properties Impress Yet Again

For the second year in a row, our favorite truck at West Chevy saw a round of exciting updates. A brand-new configurable tailgate and upgraded trailer-towing technology are a few reasons the 2021 Silverado is raising the bar substantially for its entire class.

Its hefty 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management Technology, electronically controlled 10-speed automatic transmission, and automatic engine braking all make it a reliable hauler. This is the same engine that can be found in the always-popular Corvette Stingray C8, and it boasts the ability to turn off cylinders when they are not needed. The High Country trim takes power to the next level: its towing capability is up to 9,200 lbs when paired with the 6.2-liter V8.

The Deluxe Package includes the added safety protection with forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist with lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, front pedestrian braking, safety alert seat, a power sunroof, all-weather floor liners, and 22-inch all-season tires. The Multi-Flex Tailgate is a blessing for anyone who needs to load cargo efficiently, as you can easily control it with a button inside the cab or on the key fob. The inner gate with work surface provides a handy standing desk space that is perfect for using a laptop on a job site.

The primary gate load stop helps prevent extra-long items from suddenly sliding out of the bed, and the full-width step can support 375 pounds. The Cnet.com staff billed the 2021 Silverado as “capable and comfortable,” and they were impressed by its genuine appeal and distinctive design. Every engine option can be paired with a 70-inch short bed, 79-inch standard bed, or 98-inch-long bed, and three axle ratios are offered with the choice of two and four-wheel drive.

2022 Suburban and Tahoe Slated for Arrival With Power Upgrade, New Color Choices, Massively Improved Stability

The Suburban and Tahoe are always popular at West Chevy, and a batch of new improvements for the 2022 model year make them both even more exciting! An entirely new platform, improved driving dynamics, bold styling, and an interior with more tech features all make these two incoming XXL SUVs greater than ever. They both will also be available with a brand-new electric limited-slip differential, as an in-depth feature on the CarBuzz.com blog laid out last week.

A brand-new electric limited-slip differential greatly improves the SUV’s traction and stability by optimizing the amount of torque that is divided between the rear wheels. Opting for the Off-Road Capability Package also provides the addition of Magnetic Ride Control and Air Ride Adaptive Suspension. It comes included with the Z71 Off-Road package, and is bound to make a huge difference when driving on various types of terrains.

The new Suburban and Tahoe models also provide the choice of your favorite color. The 2022 pair will see Auburn Metallic, Dark Ash Metallic, and Evergreen Gray Metallic added to the list, replacing Shadow Gray Metallic and Graywood Metallic.

The naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 that was previously the High Country trim’s defining powertrain will now be available on the RST, Z71, and Premier trims. Paired nicely with a ten-speed automatic, this offering cranks out 420 horsepower and 460 lb/ft of torque.

You can also opt for the 5.3-liter V8 that is good for 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, or the 3.0-liter inline-six turbo doling out 277 horsepower and 460 lb/ft. These two powerful SUVs aren’t just all about braun. They will come equipped with a new 12-inch digital driver information center to monitor all the vitals and performance in action.

The Suburban is so iconic, it has its own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Its massive grille, thin headlights, and characteristically tall hood line are a few of its elements that stand out right away. It is the perfect pairing for the Tahoe, and both models will be able to seat more cargo than before. Some of the available safety features found on both models are forward collision warning, rear parking sensors, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and the ultimate supervisor in Teen Driver!

Numerous 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Trims Now Powered By Standard 2.7-Liter Engine

From trips to the pumpkin to a day of heavy hauling, there’s no limit to the fall activities you can do with a brand-new Silverado from West Chevy of Knoxville. The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 arrives with a variety of new changes and updates, and the inclusion of the turbocharged 2.7-Liter inline-4 L3B gas engine is now offered as standard on many of the trim levels.

The Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, and LT trims all are now offering this engine as standard, while the RST Crew Cab Models offer the 5.3-Liter V8 L84. This unique engine is rated at 310 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, which is a significant boost over the previously used L3B model. It also incorporates double-overhead cams and Active Fuel Management, and flaunts a towing capacity of 9,500 pounds.

The 2022 Silverado has been generating plenty of attention, as it is a newly-revamped truck that displays an adventurous spirit, durable industrial strength, and capable engines such as the 5.3-Liter V8 L84 gasoline model. The exterior saw upgrades throughout the entire trim line, and the addition of the ZR2 model preps this famous truck for a bold run on the trail.

Every new Silverado will get a brand-new front fascia along with lowered headlights and Sand Dune, Dark Ash, and Glacier Blue Metallic paint hues are more available colors to make things visually pop in the color department. Die-hard Silverado fans will appreciate the carrying on of basic core elements such as the roll-formed high-strength steel bed floor construction, 12 standard tie-downs, and the optional Multi-Flex tailgate. Everyone who loves trucks and luxury is going to love the High Country model: it comes standard with open-pore wood trim, leather seating surfaces, and a pristine-sounding Bose audio system.

There are currently 200,000 miles of compatible roads in North America where drivers can use Super Cruise technology that relies on LiDAR to offer hands free driving. When it comes to the ZR2, there is no better vehicle for the trail. Even the placement of the dual exhaust system has changed to ensure minimal damage from harsh terrain while battling the wild!

The 2022 Chevy Blazer’s online configurator is an awesome tool that allows you to grab your mouse and tinker with all four trim levels before making your selection and driving away in your new vehicle.

The 2.5-Liter four-cylinder LCV gasoline engine is no longer offered. Instead, you have the turbocharged 2.0-Liter 4-cylinder LSV and 3.6-Liter V6 LGX as your two powertrain choices. The 3.6-Liter is rated at 308 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, with both front-wheel and all-wheel drive available. The Car and Driver crew gave the 2022 Blazer model kudos for its racy design, ample space for cargo and passengers, and great value. Nitro Yellow and Blue Glow are two new color choices, and the Premier trim is now available with an Enhanced Convenience package.

Even in the RS trim, the Blazer is more competent and engaging than its competitors, and its standard 18-inch wheels and tire combination is the perfect antidote for bumpy roads. Officially rated at 22 mpg city and 29 highway, the V4 version is more economical, with the V6 coming in at 20 mpg city and 27 highway. The climate control system and air vents are inspired by the Chevy Camaro and look amazing with the leather surfaces and upscale materials offered in the higher trim levels.

You’ll be enjoying the 31 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 64 cubic feet with the seats folded. Two USB ports located at the front and back of the center console are standard, and a 120-volt outlet is available on some models. Want to make your 2022 Blazer even more of an entertainment hub? You can also equip it with a Wi-Fi hotspot, 8-speaker Bose audio system, wireless charging, and built-in navigation.

2022 Corvette Stingray Hits Home Run With Hypersonic Gray Hue

There are a few notable changes for the American favorite Corvette Stingray in its third model year! The new Hypersonic Gray Metallic paint option is sure to turn heads. A few awesome images of the convertible ‘Vette showed off the Z51 Package and 5-open-spoke Carbon Flash-painted aluminum wheels with a machined edge. The rear has attractive touches of carbon flash, and the brake calipers are visible In red.

This stylish new Hypersonic Gray Metallic exterior hue is offered as one of three new exterior paint options arriving with the 2022 model year. Not quite as loud and attention-seeking as some other colors, this tint draws admiration as it accentuates the front and side’s sightlines. You can also choose from other creative colors such as Amplify Orange Tintcoat and Caffeine Metallic, with all three new colors seeing their debut at the National Corvette Museum’s 2021 bash event.

The three brand-new colors replace Sebring Orange, Shadow Gray, and Zeus Bronze, and the 2022 Corvette Stingray IMSA GTLM Championship Edition is also on deck to commemorate the Corvette C8.R’s show-stealing performance during the 202 IMSA WeatherTech race series. Just 1,000 of these amazing models will be built, and it combines the Accelerate Yellow or Hypersonic Gray exterior paint with Carbon Flash colored rear spoiler and mirror caps.

Speaking of the groundbreaking and highly-celebrated C8, it was rated the best Premium Sporty Car during the 2021 J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study, beating out rivals Porsche 718 and Lexus LC. This study surveys owners of 100 new vehicles on the number of problems that they experience during their first 3 months of ownership. With a lifeline that stretches back to the 1950s, the Corvette is a true icon of performance-car culture, and earth-shaking performance and amazingly precise handling make the Corvette a track day dominator when equipped with the state-of-the-art Z51 package.

The Car And Driver staff noted that the 2LT version adds several great features including a head-up display, a wireless smartphone charging pad, heated and ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, a 14-speaker Bose stereo system, and blind-spot monitoring. The 6.2-liter V8 cranks out 490 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, and the addition of the Z51 option adds more aggressive and track-tuned brakes, summer tires, and an electronic limited-slip rear differential. Drive testing recorded a zero-to-60 mph time of 2.8 seconds, and the quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds with a top speed of 122 mph.
