The next time your order a Domino’s pizza, be sure to keep an eye on the deliver car. Domino’s and Chevrolet have teamed up to work on the ultimate pizza-mobile with custom Chevrolet Sparks titled the Domino’s Delivery Experts (DXP).
There have been custom cars in the past, and then there are one’s customized with a purpose. The Chevy Spark DXP falls into the latter category. Up to 80 pizzas could be stored at once in the DXP, being able to feed a party of almost any size. These special pizza delivery cars will be starting out in 25 cities, and unfortunately Knoxville isn’t one of them. However, the DXPs’ successes could mean more cities across the U.S. in due time.
What’s special about the Chevy Spark Domino’s Delivery Expert?
For starters, a built-in warming oven is kept heated at up to 140 degrees to keep the pizza hot from Domino’s to doorstep. The interior is focused on delivery as the Spark is almost a true roadster — just one seat. Drinks, napkins, dipping sauces and, of course, the pizza have more room than a full-size Chevy van.
This is quite a luxurious ride for the pizza. On the exterior, an illuminated “Out for Delivery” sign lets others know that the fresh pizza is inside and en route to its next destination. No customizable ride is complete without decals that set each one apart. Each driver can customize his or her Spark with nicknames and other such decals.
The fuel efficiency of the Chevy Spark (up to 31 mpg city) makes it an ideal car for a delivery team, and with an industry as synonymous with delivery as pizza. A delivery path illuminator is a custom side-mounted light that helps keep the delivery order out of harm’s way.
The Domino’s DXP is certainly a high point of customization for Chevrolet vehicles. The ingenuity behind it shows just how customizable the Chevys at West Chevrolet can be, from the muscular Camaro to the efficient Spark and everywhere in between.
