A Chevy mainstay is finally showing what it’s got for 2016. The redesigned 2016 Silverado 1500 was revealed at the Texas State Fair, and there’s a lot to love about the updated Chevy trucks.
The longest-lasting, most dependable trucks on the road truly reflect their strength for 2016. A sculpted hood and advanced connectivity are just some of the changes for the Silverado Light Duty.
2016 Silverado 1500: Strong face, stronger truck
Chevrolet updated its flagship truck’s appearance for the new model year. The 2016 Silverado 1500’s front end is more muscular and accented by LED lights. These lights are integrated into sweeping horizontal elements and grille inserts, creating a more streamlined truck. The new sculpted hood sets apart the new Silverado from other trucks in its class.
Whether your truck is for work or play (or both), the new technology and connectivity will make your truck a hot-spot on wheels. The available OnStar and 4G LTE Wi-Fi returns for 2016. With this, the Silverado 1500 can be your mobile office or power your devices on a road trip.
New for 2016 is the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay availability. When your new Silverado has the seven-inch Chevrolet MyLink screen, you have the option of smartphone integration. Owners of iPhones 5 or later and compatible Android devices can make calls and send/receive messages and listen to music from their phones. The smartphone integration also allows Silverado owners to use driver-friendly apps such as maps and music from the MyLink screen.
Customers can chose from three advanced EcoTec3 engines, all which have direct fuel injection, continuously variable valve timing, and cylinder deactivation (aka Active Fuel Management). First, Silverado’s standard 4.3-liter V6 is has the most torque of any standard V6 at 305 lb.-ft.
Next up is the 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. If you want a fuel-efficient V8, this is your dream V8. Knoxville 2016 Silverado owners can get up 23 mpg on the highway.
Power and torque characterize the 6.2-L V8. Your new 2016 Silverado 1500 could get up to 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque, the most of any light-duty truck. This engine also offers the highest towing of any V-8 light-duty pickup, up to 12,000 pounds.
