Is A New Engine In The Corvette's Future?
Corvette fanatics! Though the current Corvette sports the original Corvette formula, many changes are in store for the beloved sports car.
According to leaked General Motors service documents, a new engine will appear in the 2018 Corvette. Though similar to the 6.2-liter V8 used in the current Corvette, this codenamed LT5 engine will drop the pushrod valve actuation, which has been used since the ‘Vette’s birth over 60 years ago and switch to a dual-overhead camshaft, or DOHC layout.
General Motors has done some impressive things with the current V8 engines used in the Corvette, but DOHC will allow the engines to rev more freely and give engineers a wider powerband to work with when trying to extract horsepower from an engine. The LT5 will likely provide a greater eagerness to rev and produce less low-end grunt than other Corvette engines.
The LT5 engine is expected to appear in 2018 (around the same time the mid-engined Corvette that we’ve mentioned) so we’ll keep you posted over the next 12 months! In the meantime, be sure to stop in and see us at West Chevrolet in Knoxville, TN!

Stay Safe This Season With These 6 Tips For Driving In Winter Weather
Clear snow and ice off of your car before driving
Snow left on your car causes problems for you and the drivers around you, so it is essential to de-ice your vehicle before you hit the road. If snow is left on your windshield, it blocks your view while creating tons of blind spots. If snow is on the roof of your car, it may slide down while driving, completely blocking your view or fly back and create trouble for the cars behind you.
Reduce speed
Tires have severely reduced grip of the road in icy and snowy conditions. Reducing your speed gives you more control and time to react if slippage occurs. Should things go wrong, slower speeds also lead to a lessened impact.
Accelerating, braking and turning should all be separate actions
Attempting to brake while turning or accelerate while turning is the recipe for disaster in snowy conditions. Always be sure to slowly apply the brakes while the vehicle is still going straight and gently (very gently!) accelerate when making the turn.
Longer braking distance
Keeping a good distance from the vehicle ahead of you, and be sure to apply the brakes earlier than you would in dry conditions. Also, use much less pressure on the brakes than you normally would. Locking your wheels will cause the vehicle to slide or skid.
Steer into a skid
Should the rear of your vehicle begin to slide while you’re making a turn, do not panic! Stay calm, let your foot off of the accelerator and steer your vehicle in the direction of the slide. This will keep you in control.
Just because the road looks clear, doesn’t mean it is safe
Just because a road looks clear of snow does not mean that is clear of danger. Black ice, a layer of ice on the road typically mistaken for wet pavement, is often found on bridges, overpasses and shaded parts of the road. According to one study, trying to stop on black ice takes nine times longer than normal, leaving no room for error if you happen to come across it. Keep in mind that if the road is wet and temperatures are below 32 degrees, freezing will occur.

Chevy's First-Ever Nine-Speed Automatic Transmission Debuts In 2017 Malibu
Chevy’s first-ever nine-speed automatic transmission, also known as the Hydra-Matic 9T50, has made its official debut in the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder 2017 Malibu and brought with it some impressive changes, like an EPA estimated 33 mpg highway and improved performance.
“In addition to improved fuel efficiency, the 9T50 offers a strong overall balance of performance and refinement that customers will feel at all driving speeds,” stated Dan Nicholson, vice president of Global Propulsion Systems. “By the end of 2017, Chevrolet will offer four models with the new nine-speed.”
The nine-speed transmission will also be available in the 2017 Cruze Diesel and 2018 Equinox by the end of 2017. In an effort to be even more fuel efficient, the transmission will support stop/start technology on all models.
“Everything about the new nine-speed is designed to maximize benefits for the customer,” said Steve Majoros, director of Chevrolet Marketing. “It helps offer greater fuel efficiency in the city and on the highway, all with the world-class refinement that makes the drive quiet and smooth.”
After selling roughly 205,117 Malibus in the United States so far this year, the brand is well on its way to a record sales year with this vehicle. To test drive yours, stop by and see us at West Chevrolet in Knoxville, TN!

New Spy Shots Of The 2018 Corvette ZR1 Give Us The Best Look Yet
The arrival of the 2018 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 is near and new spy photos prove to us that the barely-covered road car is going to be one of the baddest the brand has yet to build.
So far, every test ZR-1 we’ve gotten a look at has been heavily camouflaged, making it difficult to grasp the contour of the of the vehicle… but not this time. In the new photos, we are able to see the bulging hood and revamped front end, which features three large intakes and a massive splitter. The rear is equipped with a huge wing and spoiler.
Taking the larger hood into consideration, a supercharger larger than the current Z06’s 1.7-liter version is likely. There’s also a good chance that this bad boy will bust out more than 700 horsepower. We’re hoping to find out the exact numbers when the Detroit Auto Show rolls around in January.
Stay tuned for more information on the 2018 ‘Vette! We’re just as excited as you are. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to treat yourself for the holidays... Stop by West Chevy in Knoxville, TN to check out the current Chevrolet lineup!

Chevy Took Home A Record 18 Awards In Just One Week
It has been a pretty good week for Chevy! According to recent news, the brand has taken home a record 18 awards in the automotive and consumer media rankings this past week. The all-new Bolt EV contributed to this feat, winning five awards of its own.
Offering 238 miles of range on a full charge, the Bolt EV earned a spot on the 2017 Car and driver 10Best Cars list and was also named “Best New Car to Buy” by Green Car Reports, “Green Car of the Year” by Green Car Journal and “Best EV” by Car Connection.
“The Bolt EV is the newest example of how Chevrolet is driving the industry with leading technology matched with great design and the connectivity that makes customers’ lives easier,” stated Alan Batey, president of GM North America and brand chief, Global Chevrolet. “We’re innovating like never before with more choices for every need and these awards affirm the depth, breadth and value offered by Chevrolet’s lineup.”
Also contributing to these awards is the Camaro 1LE and the Corvette, which were each positioned on the Car and Driver 10Best Cars list. This is the second consecutive year the Camaro has earned a spot on the list and the third time in four years that the Corvette has made the list.
Lastly, six Chevy vehicles earned Consumer Guide Automotive “Best Buy” honors, while the Impala and Tahoe each received back-to-back Kelley Blue Book “Best Buy” award recognition in their respective categories.

The All-New Colorado ZR2 Is Ready To Hit The Trails
Good news for Knoxville off-roading fanatics… the Colorado ZR2 will be here soon and we are more than ready to get behind the wheel! Featuring more technology than any other midsize pickup in its segment, this desert-ready performance truck will undoubtedly reset the bar for off-road trucks.
The ZR2 sports a much wider track and lifted suspension than the standard Colorado for better performance over rocks and other obstacles off-roaders are familiar with. The front and rear bumpers have been altered for better off-road clearance. Other exclusive features include an available diesel engine, front and rear locking differentials, and the Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSV) damper technology.
Mark Reuss, executive vice president, Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain states, “Our engineers have been incredibly successful developing Corvette and Camaro performance variants with broad performance envelopes. The ZR2 applies that same philosophy to off-road performance. You can go rock crawling Saturday, desert running on Sunday, and comfortably drive to work on Monday. This truck can do it all, and do it all well.”
Ready to put it to the test on the trails? Us too. It’ll be rolling into West Chevy soon, so be on the lookout!

Winterize Your Chevy With These 5 Easy Tips
It’s already November (this year flew by!) and winter is right around the corner. With the new season and change of weather coming for us, it is important to get our cars ready for the cold weather too. Keep things running smoothly by winterizing your car… it could even save your life! Check out our tips below:
1. Check The Tire Pressure
As weather gets cooler, the air pressure in your tires usually drops. Tires must be inflated properly in order to ensure the best traction while driving- especially in snowy, wet conditions. Check your owner’s manual for your vehicle’s target pressure levels and be sure to get your tires checked before the crazy weather kicks in.
2. Check The Battery
If your battery is more than three years old, be sure to stop by the West Chevrolet service department so that we can test its ability to hold a charge. If it is not more than three years old, it is still important to check that the battery’s posts and connections have no corrosion and that it has all the water that it needs.
3. Keep Your Windshield Clear
If you haven’t replaced your windshield wiper blades in one year or more- you’re due and encouraged to do so! Additionally, be sure to check that the windshield wiper reservoir is filled with washer fluid. Although water may do the trick throughout the summer, it will freeze this time of the year so actual washer fluid is essential.
4. Change Your Oil (And Use The Proper Oil)
The climate is changing, so your oil should be changing too! When weather gets colder, oil tends to thicken faster. Be sure the oil you’re using has the right thickness and viscosity so that it doesn’t get too thick, leading it to fail to keep your engine lubricated.
5. Put Together An Emergency Kit
An emergency kit is something great to have on hand. Road-tripping or not, you never know what could happen and nobody wants to get stuck in the cold. Some things to include: a flashlight, snacks and water, a bag of salt (or kitty litter) in case a tire is stuck on the snow, an extra set of warm clothes, a blanket, boots and gloves, windshield washer fluid, jumper cables, and flares!
Another tip: Always keep your gas tank full to prevent it from freezing!
To make sure your car is fully prepared for winter, stop by West Chevy in Knoxville, TN so that our service team can take a look! Check out the service specials on our website and schedule your appointment today!

2016 SEMA Show: What You Missed
Last week was the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas and Chevy took it as an opportunity to not only show off their awesome concepts, but also to celebrate the Camaro’s 50th anniversary. If you’re like us and didn’t make it out there to check out the show for yourself, you’re probably wondering what you missed out on. We put a list together of some of our favorites for you.
Chevelle Slammer
This concept, the Chevelle Slammer, was designed to mock the original, for good reason. “The ‘69 Chevelle is one of the best-looking cars of the muscle-car era, and we didn’t want to mess with its classic cues,” said designer Humberto Ortiz.
2017 Camaro SS Slammer
This Camaro was designed to take the Gen 6 Camaro’s proportions to the extreme. This lowered, road-hugging one-off was introduced at the show by Dale Earnhardt Jr. himself… Chevy showed it on the stand all week long.
Silverado HD Alaskan Edition concept
A huge hit at the Chevy preview, this concept builds on the existing Alaskan Edition offered on the 2017 Silverado HD Work Truck and LT but with a few additions, like the silver-accented blue exterior, grizzly bear graphics and chrome bumper grilles. The Alaskan Edition 2500HD features a giant stainless-steel custom snow plow, which shows off the company’s snow-plow prep package.
Trax Activ concept
A lifted, widened and accessorized version of the production Trax, the Trax Activ concept features 18-inch wheels, front and rear clips and is all about one thing- adventure.
Though we can’t get behind the wheel of these bad boys like we want to, we can check out some of the parts in the Chevy Performance catalog! And while you’re at it, stop by West Chevrolet in Knoxville, TN to give a new car a test drive!

The 2017 Silverado HD Carhartt Concept
According to GM and Chevy, Silverado and Carhartt have a mutual passion for two important things: durability and long-lasting products.
“When you think about the two brands and what they represent, but also the customers that purchase them, there’s a lot of passion for the Carhartt brand and the Silverado brand,” said High Milne, senior manager of Silverado marketing and advertising. “We’re talking to the same people, people who buy Carhartt stuff or drive our trucks.”
This two-toned black truck features two different paint jobs- a matte black along the top and shiny black on the bottom half. Throughout the exterior, you will see Carhartt design elements in the “Carhartt Brown” accent paint, like the driver’s door which features the brand’s “C” logo and Silverado written in Carhartt style font. Additionally, nickel finishes inspired by Carhartt’s buttons are used on the wheels and around the blacked-out Chevy bowtie on the grille.
As far as the interior goes, you will find Carhartt’s name featured on the floor mats and the Carhartt logo on the headrests. The Carhartt duck-brown cloth material is also featured on part of the seats, armrests and door panel inserts. Even the truck bed features a roll-up tonneau cover made from Carhartt material.
Although there are no definite plans to sell the truck, Tony Ambroza, senior vice president of marketing for Carhartt says that they are interested if that changes.
“If Chevy decides to pursue that opportunity, we’re very interested in working with them on that,” stated Ambroza. “The idea was if people respond to it as well as we hope they will, that we’ll have conversations on how we can continue to partner together and bring the ultimate work truck to life.”
Not sure about you, but we’re on board! Hopefully one day we’ll get it in our showroom!

Chevy's All-New Blue Line Series
Similar to last year’s Red Line Series, Chevrolet plans to release another set of concepts at this year’s Nov.1 SEMA Show in Las Vegas- the Blue Line Series. In contrast to the Red Line Series, which highlighted Chevy’s sporty character, The Blue Line Series stands for the lifestyle and personalization possibilities of the brand. The Malibu and Cruze RS hatchback will both be used as the base of these unique concepts and will also feature newly-developed accessories specifically for them.
“The Chevrolet Blue Line Series concepts integrate accessories that offer greater personalization choices for customers,” stated Roger McCormack, director, Accessories and Performance Parts Marketing. “Each vehicle wears production and concept accessories thematically linked under the Blue Line Series banner. We look forward to gauging public reaction at the SEMA Show and other venues.”
The two vehicles will feature Genesis White exteriors, contrasted with blue-tinted windows and slate-blue metallic painted 18-inch wheels. Add-ons for the Malibu include a rear diffuser, a black grille insert, black Chevrolet bowtie emblems, a rear spoiler, illuminated door sills and a suspension lowering kit.
The Cruze RS hatchback will feature a chrome grille insert, suspension lowering kit, performance brake package and performance exhaust system. As for the interior, custom satin graphite accents will be placed on the instrument panel, shift knob and door inserts.
Interested in these enhancements for yourself? According to Chevy, some of the Blue Line performance parts and accessories will be available at the end of this year. Others will be available towards the middle of 2017. And good news- as long as your Chevy dealer, West Chevrolet installs them, your warranty will remain intact!

4 Fall Road Trips To Take In Your Chevy Impala
Fall is officially here and what better time to take a road trip than now? We picked a few places for you...they’re some of the best places to road trip from Knoxville, Tennessee. Whether you’re looking for a getaway with some friends or a weekend with the kids, each of these destinations have a little something for everybody. Pack up your Chevy Impala and hit the road!
Atlanta, Georgia (3 hours)
With tons of family-friendly activities, Atlanta is one of our favorite places to take the kiddos. Some of the things to put on the top of your “To-Do” list while you’re there include the Georgia Aquarium (one of the world’s largest), World Coca-Cola, the world headquarters of CNN, Piedmont Park, the Centennial Olympic Park, and The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum… we could go on for the entire three hour drive it takes to get there. Add all of this to an impressive culinary scene, vibrant (and welcomed) street art, and hip ambiance- you’re guaranteed to have a peachy time.
Chattanooga, Tennessee (1 hour 45 minutes)
A perfect combination of outdoor scenery and indoor activities, Chattanooga is another great place for a weekend with the kids. Just under a two hour drive, this city is set right along the Tennessee River and in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Points of interest include Lookout Mountain, Rock City, the Creative Discovery Museum, and the Ruby Falls. No matter where you end up, we promise you won’t be disappointed with the views.
Asheville, North Carolina (2 hours)
Asheville, otherwise known as the Land of the Sky, is located in North Carolina and is known for its vibrant atmosphere, happy-go-lucky residents and colorful history. Whether you’re looking for a getaway with some friends or a family-filled weekend, you’ll find exactly what you need here. We highly suggest visiting Biltmore Estate and Blue Ridge Parkway. Additionally, the brewery tours are a must; Asheville also calls itself “Beer City USA” and considering it has more breweries per capita than any other city in America, they can most certainly get away with it. Great beer, great views and great food... What more could you ask for?
Gatlinburg, Tennessee- The Great Smoky Mountains (1 hour)
Gatlinburg is the ultimate mountain town located in eastern Tennessee and there is no better time to visit than now. Rent a cabin and enjoy a weekend in the woods. Up-And-Coming Military Spec Vehicle: The Colorado ZH2
Nearly one year ago, General Motors and the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) revealed that they would be working side-by-side to develop a military spec vehicle. And this vehicle is no ordinary military vehicle… It will be powered by hydrogen fuel cells.
What’s so significant about hydrogen fuel cells? Lots of things. These fuel cells (often compared to a battery) use both hydrogen and oxygen as fuel to produce electricity and water. From there, the electricity produced is used to power the vehicle and the water can be either emitted or captured for other uses, which is great for hostile desert conditions.
The vehicle itself is called the Colorado ZH2 and- you guessed it- is based on a stretched version of the Chevrolet Colorado (with many modifications to make it military-ready, of course). Featuring an Exportable Power Take-Off (EPTO) unit, the hydrogen fuel cells are used to power equipment in rough terrain and remote areas very quietly and with zero emissions. Additionally, the vehicle runs much cooler, so thermal cameras have a hard time detecting it.
As far as power goes, the ZH2’s drivetrain produces a horsepower of 174. This will feed one motor, which is linked to all four wheels but GM is, in fact, thinking about giving each axle its own motor.
Although you likely won’t be seeing the ZH2 on public roads, Charlie Freese, leader of GM’s fuel cell program, says that fuel cells will be making their way into customer hands at some point in time.
Since that point in time isn’t here quite yet, we hope you’ll stop by West Chevrolet in Knoxville, TN to check out the 2016 Colorado!

Introducing The All-New 2018 Chevrolet Equinox
On the same day as this year’s autumnal equinox, the new and improved 2018 Equinox was introduced to the world. This compact SUV has been revamped to meet the needs and desires of drivers and their passengers with a new design, added safety features and all-new propulsion systems.
“We’ve got the strongest truck business in the industry and we’ve reinvigorated our car lineup with the Volt, Cruze, and Malibu,” stated Alan Batey, Global Chevrolet president. “We’re applying the same customer focus to grow our crossover/SUV business - starting with the Chevrolet Equinox.”
The spacious interior of the 2018 Equinox now offers a down-and-away instrument panel and a lower windshield base, allowing for an outstanding outward view. Connectivity is the most advanced yet, with the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system, which supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto. And as far as safety goes, this vehicle has got you covered; features such as Safety Alert Seat, Surround Vision, Rear Seat Reminder and Teen Driver technology ensure the safety of everyone in (and outside of) the car.
The vehicle’s exterior has been given a richer image with subtle details, like chrome trim and sleek, muscular lines. Projector-beam headlights have been added, in addition to horizontal taillamps which enhance the Equinox’s wide stance.
Wondering where the power will come from? The 2018 Equinox now offers a range of three turbocharged engines- a 1.5L turbo, a 2.0L turbo and a 1.6L turbo-diesel. These options give carbuyers more say when it comes to the performance, efficiency and capability of the vehicle.
“It’s an all-new SUV from the ground up and one that takes on the industry’s biggest competitors with a stronger architecture, greater efficiency and more technology and looks great doing it,” said Rick Spina, executive chief engineer.
The 2018 Equinox will be headed to West Chevrolet in Knoxville, TN in the first quarter of 2017… We’ll let you know when it arrives!

Chevy Making Moves To Make Towing Even Safer
According to a Chevy press release, roughly 1.2 million horse, RV and work trailers are sold every year in the United States. And though it comes with no surprise, these trailers are usually pulled by full-size trucks and SUVs. With this knowledge, Chevrolet, being an award-winning industry leader in trailering, has found the perfect opportunity to help trailer manufacturers and the industry leaders to understand the direction truck and trailering technology is headed.
The brand has recently announced they will be working with the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) and the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) in order to create an integrated and convenient trailering experience for today’s trailer owners.
“Our owners are often towing something, from an RV to construction equipment, that is more valuable than their truck,” stated General Motors future truck executive chief engineer, Tim Herrick. “Unequivocally, they tell us that they are looking for a better towing experience. Safer, easier, with more integration between their trailer and their truck.”
Chevrolet plans to assist trailer manufacturers in the development of technologies that will take combined trailer and truck safety and industry safety standards to the next level. Additionally, the partners will work together to increase the communication between the truck and the trailer so that the driver is always aware of what’s going on behind them while staying focused on the road.
“This partnership with Chevrolet is part of the trailer industry’s continued commitment to improving safety,” Pam Trusdale, executive director, NATM stated. “We are confident that we can collectively improve not only the towing experience for consumers but also public safety, which is why NATM is excited about working with Chevrolet.”
Be sure to look out for more built-in advanced technology towing options on future Chevrolet models at West Chevrolet!

Midnight Editions Expanding To More Vehicles In Chevy's Lineup
If you haven’t noticed, Chevrolet has been rolling out quite a few special edition models of some of the most popular vehicles in their lineup. Midnight Editions of the Silverado, Colorado, Equinox and Trax have become the fastest-selling special edition vehicles to date...but the brand isn’t stopping there. Chevy recently announced they will be expanding these Midnight Edition speciality models to the Tahoe and Suburban. In our opinion, this makes perfect sense, considering these two vehicles make up nearly 50 percent of all full-size vehicles in the US.
Marketing and advertising manager of Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe stated, “Our SUV customers have shown a considerable appetite for specialty vehicles. The Midnight Editions allow us to further deliver on the premium expectation that our customers already have for these class-leading full-size SUVs.”
The Midnight Edition Suburban and Tahoe will be available in two different variants, the Z71 Midnight package and the LT Midnight package. The Z71 will have all of the features that are included in the Z71 Package, like the off-road tuned suspension and off-road tires, tow hooks, fog lamps and sill plates. To take it up a notch, the Midnight Edition will offer 18” all-black wheels, roof rack cross rails, a black grille insert and the black Chevy “bow tie” logos.
Similarly, the LT Midnight will include the same features of the Suburban and Tahoe trim levels, but will add 20” black wheels, all-season tires, roof rack rails, black assist steps, and of course, black Chevy “bow tie” logos.
According to Chevy, these vehicles will be released a little later this year! Be sure to keep an eye out for their arrival to West Chevrolet in Knoxville, Tennessee!

How One-Pedal Driving Gives The 2017 Bolt EV Even More Range
A recent announcement by General Motors states that the 2017 Bolt EV will offer “one-pedal driving”, which uses regenerative braking to maximize the vehicle’s total range. Unsure what any of this means? Boiled down, regenerative braking gives this electric vehicle the ability to recapture large amounts of energy and use it to recharge the battery. If the regenerative braking system is powerful enough, it can almost completely cut out the need of using the brake pedal, hence, we have one-pedal driving.
“Bolt EV customers who want an engaging experience will love the thrill of one-pedal driving. They will be able to tailor the vehicle to their preferred driving style and maximize their range.” said Bolt EV Chief Engineer, Josh Tavel.
A test run by Chevrolet engineers found that nearly 5 percent of of range can be added to the Bolt EV when using one-pedal driving. Drivers are able to customize the experience to fit their needs with four different modes, which include:
- Operating in Drive and easing off the accelerator
- Operating in Drive and using the Regen on Demand paddle on the back of the steering wheel
- Operating in Low and easing off the accelerator
- Operating in Low and using the Regen on Demand paddle in tandem
Electric vehicle enthusiasts are excited about this technology making its way to the Chevrolet Bolt. By using regenerative braking, this vehicle has the ability to surpass its already 200+ miles of range… and that’s what it’s all about!
We’ll keep you posted on its arrival to Knoxville!

Lots Of Changes Coming Along With The 2017 Colorado
The Chevrolet Colorado was brought into the market for the 2015 model year and has experienced unparalleled success ever since. Now, the 2017 model is headed our way and is even better than before. The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado will offer an all-new V-6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This update creates a midsize pickup unlike any other in its segment.
Anita Burke, Colorado chief engineer, stated “Customers made the Colorado an overnight success and it remains one of the industry’s hottest-selling products. That fast success has justified our continued investment in midsize pickups, introducing new features for our customers such as the class-exclusive diesel engine, advanced technologies like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and now a class-leading V-6 and eight-speed automatic powertrain combination.”
Currently the most fuel-efficient pickup in the nation, the Colorado has an EPA-estimated 31 mpg on the highway when equipped with the diesel engine. The new V-6 engine includes updated technologies and is accompanied by the eight-speed automatic transmission. This combination will lead to an overall improved driving experience- pulling harder during acceleration and offering a sophisticated, clean ride on the highway.
As mentioned, the Colorado has had tons of success and we have the numbers to back it up. Chevrolet is currently on track to sell more than 160,000 Colorado’s since it was brought into the market 24 months ago. The Colorado also makes up an overall 23 percent of the midsize segment.
The 2017 Colorado will be headed to West Chevrolet in Knoxville, TN towards the end of this year and you’re not going to want to miss it! In the meantime, come check out our current pickups, like the 2016 Colorado and 2016 Silverado 1500!

Woodward Dream Cruise: No Better Place To Celebrate Chevy Camaro
The world’s largest single-day auto event took place this past weekend- yep, the one that draws in 40,000 classic cars and 1.5 million people, and is otherwise known as the Woodward Dream Cruise. The turnout was better than ever. This year was especially exciting for Chevrolet, who could think of no better place to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its precious Camaro than the annual Cruise.
Chevy kicked off the weekend early on Thursday and opened up the Lansing Grand River Assembly- known to many as the home of production for the Chevrolet Camaro- so that Camaro fanatics could get a peek at what goes on inside. The following morning, Camaro owners were invited to the “Camaros and Coffee” gathering before parading from the Renaissance Center (GM’s headquarters) and down Woodward Avenue. About 200 Camaros made their way out for the parade. Finally, on Saturday, Chevrolet had a special heritage collection at its display, where Camaro fanatics were able to view rare and milestone models from the muscle car’s six generations (which also included the all-new Camaro ZL1 and 1LE).
“Dream Cruise is such a big momentous event, which is right in the wheelhouse of what these people like to do,” Todd Christensen, Chevrolet marketing manager, told Detroit News. “It just felt right.”
We don’t know about you...but we agree with Mr. Christensen. Chevrolet definitely did it right this weekend at the 22nd Annual Woodward Dream Cruise.
Oh, and good news: The 2017 Camaro ZL1 and 1LE are now available for order...we’ll let you know more about their arrival.

Tired Of Mainstream? Chevy’s Special Edition SUVs Won’t Disappoint
After the takeoff of the 2016 Trax Midnight Edition, Chevrolet has decided to expand these special-edition features to two other well-known SUVs in their lineup. On sale now, the 2017 Equinox is available in two editions- Midnight and Summit White Sport. The 2017 Traverse is available in Graphite Edition.
Senior director of automotive industry insights at Kelly Blue Book stated “Special Editions give consumers an opportunity to buy something outside of the mainstream trim designation. This lets them spend a little more for a unique model, one that often provides a higher resale value when it’s time to sell or trade the vehicle for their next purchase.”
The Midnight and Summit White Editions of the Equinox will be available on the LT model. They will each feature an all-black grille with black Chevrolet bowties, black mirror caps, 18-inch black aluminum wheels, and jet-black perforated leather-appointed seats with memory seating. Rack crossbars have been added to the roof.
The Traverse is offered on the 2LT model and has features such as Mosaic Black Metallic, Siren Red Tintcoat and Iridescent Pearl Tricoat exterior colors. It will sit on 20-inch Dark Charcoal wheels and also feature the all-black Chevrolet bowties. The Traverse will have a dual exhaust and integrated assist step, making it easier to get in and out of the vehicle.

The 2017 Corvette Grand Sport is the Corvette We’ve Always Wanted
Chevrolet will release the newest edition of its beloved Corvette Grand Sport at the end of the summer. Currently, the Corvette comes in three editions: the Stingray, known for its quality and affordable price; the Z06, equipped with the enormous Z06 engine, automatic transmission, and convertible top; and finally the Grand Sport, which falls somewhere in between the two.
The Grand Sport has a rich history, beginning in 1961 when Corvette Godfather, Zora Arkus-Duntov and legendary racer, Briggs Cunningham entered a few “mostly-stock” Corvettes into Le Mans. Despite winning its category and bringing home 8th overall, GM decided not to produce the vehicle, and only a few leaked out to customers. In 1984, Chevrolet came close to the Grand Sport with its Z51 package; however it wasn’t until 1996 that the Grand Sport was officially produced.
Over 50 years later, the 2017 Corvette Grand Sport will feature bigger wheels, Michelin pilot Super Sport tires, Brembo brakes reminiscent of those on the Z06, wider rear fenders, special grille inserts, stiffer spring rates, and an electronic limited-slip differential. It has a LT1 V8 engine rated at 460 lb-ft of torque and comes in either a 7-speed manual or 8-speed automatic editions. Standard on this vehicle is GM’s sophisticated Magnetic Ride Control.
The Grand Sport is the perfect vehicle for those Knoxville drivers who are intimidated by the Z06, but want more than what the Stingray offers. Chevy has stated that the Grand Sport is capable of reaching 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. Like Porsche’s 918 Spyder, the Grand Sport (equipped with the Z06 package) is predicted to go from 60-0 mph in less than 100 feet. Unlike the 918 Spyder, it’s price will be significantly less than a million dollars.
We can’t wait for the 2017 Corvette Grand Sport to hit dealerships, like West Chevrolet, at the end of this summer! In the meantime, come to West Chevrolet and check out our entire inventory today!

The 2017 Volt Is Here!
The 2017 Chevrolet Volt has recently made its appearance and brought a few changes along with it. First introduced in 2010, the Chevrolet became a part of the plug-in hybrid family and has continued to evolve into one of the most popular extended-range electric vehicles on the market.
This four-door hatchback is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two AC generators that contribute to its propulsion. As a purely electric car, it is able to run about 400 plus miles and and has an EV range of about 53 miles in Normal mode- well above some of its competitors. Using a 240-volt source, the Volt takes just 4.5 hours to gain a full charge.
Other modes available (with the push of a console button) include Sport, Mountain and Hold. Sport is very similar to normal, the main difference being a sharpened throttle response. Mountain mode helps to the battery to stay in reserve, assisting the engine when ascending steep grades- great for those gorgeous drives through the Smoky Mountains. And finally, Hold mode will save any leftover battery charge for later use whenever complete electric driving is necessary for the driver. Both trims offered by Chevy- LT and Premier- have access to all four modes.
Overall, the Chevrolet Volt is a great option for those in search of a green-car. It’s design and engineering ensures that you will get where you need to go- all while being kind to the environment.

2017 Colorado ZR2 Is Stepping Up In The Off-Roading Game
The new Colorado has been on sale for a few years now and has offered strong performance capabilities and solid sales for Chevrolet, even winning Motor Trend Truck of the Year. However, when compared to the Toyota Tacoma, some will say just a little something is missing- like its off-roading abilities. Chevy has apparently taken this into consideration, as they were caught testing a rougher and tougher version of the vehicle- something all Knoxville off-roaders will love.
At the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2014, Chevrolet revealed a Colorado ZR2 concept, proving that something was definitely in the works (although they insisted it was just a concept). These recent pictures have us thinking otherwise.
Although the front of the vehicle was heavily camouflaged, it seems as if a new bumper has been added, along with a pretty robust skid plate underneath. The wheel arches are certainly more aggressive and the overhangs have been reduced- to avoid any kind of scraping. Additional suspension upgrades are still unknown but historically, ZR2 suspension packages added lift and offered shocks, sway bars and much more.
As far as power goes, it’s expected that the Colorado ZR2 will be paired with the 3.6-liter V-6 gas or perhaps the 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine.
Be on the lookout for the 2017 Chevy Colorado ZR2 the end of this year...we’ll keep you updated!

'Vette Fanatics- A Mid-Engine Corvette Is Coming
Calling all Knoxville ‘Vette fanatics! After a recent string of spy photos, it’s looking like the next Corvette isn’t going to be your typical C7 Stingray, but rather a mid-engine model! We know what you’re thinking- you’ve heard these rumors before- but it’s looking like there may be some truth behind it this time around.
Sporting heavy camouflage (C7 body panels and all), the new Corvette was caught in the act while test-driving at GM’s Milford Proving Grounds and a few things point to the fact that this one may not be so ordinary. The biggest hint- the vehicle’s rear hatch looks as if it is missing it’s glass cover so if there is an engine behind the seats, this would ensure that it is receiving enough cool air.
Just last year, GM engineers and executives were seen testing a prototype that combined the C7 Corvette and the Holden Commodore SSV, so it seems as if this mid-engine vehicle has been a long time coming.
We will be sure to keep you posted but while you wait, be sure to stop by and see us at West Chevrolet in Knoxville, TN to give the 2016 Corvette Stingray Coupe a test drive!

How Does the Silverado Steel Bed Hold Up?
If you haven’t seen them all over the Knoxville stations already,
Chevrolet recently released videos that demonstrate the strength of the
Silverado’s roll-formed steel bed when compared to Ford’s F-150 stamped
aluminum bed and we bet you can guess which one outperformed the other…
This campaign proves that the right materials, along with the right
manufacturing process for the right application can do wonders for a
vehicle.
In order to demonstrate the advantages of the high-strength steel bed of the Silverado, Chevrolet performed three separate comparisons to the F-150 stamped aluminum bed. In one test, an empty metal toolbox was pushed off of each truck’s side rail and into the bed. Of the 14 demonstrations, the corner of the 28-pound toolbox left a puncture the F-150’s bed 13 times. The Silverado, on the other hand, held up pretty well with a mere dent in all but two instances. Another test involved 55 landscaping blocks, collectively weighing in at 825 pounds. These blocks were then dropped into the beds from 5 feet above the bed floor. The Silverado ended up with only scratches and dents that did not affect the utility of the bed, one thing we all know St. Louis buyers can appreciate. The F-150 sustained punctures in every single drop, totaling to an average of 4.3 punctures per drop. In a real-life scenario, this kind of damage would reduce the utility of the bed.
Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet truck marketing director states, “Obviously, any material can be pushed to the breaking point if you subject it to enough impact energy. If a customer does manage to puncture the high-strength steel bed of the Silverado, they have the added peace of mind knowing steel tends to be easier to repair than aluminum- potentially saving money and minimizing time without their truck.”

Chevy Takes Home More J.D. Power Awards Than Any Other Brand
For the fourth consecutive year, Chevrolet has had more J.D. Power Initial Quality awards than any other brand. This year, five Chevrolet vehicles led their segments in the J.D. Power 2016 Initial Quality Study, a study that is based on the responses of 80,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2016 model-year vehicles within 90 days of ownership.
Alan Batey, Global Chevrolet president stated, “First, the study results will help attract new buyers to Chevrolet, as J.D. Power data shows ‘expected reliability’ is customers’ top purchase consideration for a new vehicle. Second, the improved ownership experience of our new vehicles will help convert first-time Chevrolet buyers into repeat customers, as J.D. Power indicates customers who have a positive experience in the first 90 days of ownership are more likely to become repeat buyers for the brand.”
According to the study, Chevrolet is the fastest growing full-line brand in the automobile industry. Within the first five months of 2016, they have seen a 3% grow in retail sales due to their focus on the customer.

The 640-Horsepower 2017 Camaro ZL1 Taking On Nurburgring
It's a bird! No - it's a plane! No - it's the 640 horsepower 2017 Camaro ZL1 darting around Nurburgrin like a bat out of hell. Packing a punch both verbally and physically, the 2017 Camaro ZL1 is the most powerful one yet.
On the inside, the ZL1 makes it from 0-60 MPH in an estimated 3.5 seconds by combining the Cadillac's CTS-V supercharged V8 along with a limited-slip differential from the Corvette. Not a bad combo if you ask us. Commonly bought as beastly 10-speed automatic, this model is also available as a six-speed manual.
I think I know what I want for my birthday. Visit Westchevrolet.com today to find out more info about the 2017 Camaro ZL1 or call 877-323-6383.

The 2017 Sonic will be coming to West Chevrolet this Fall
West Chevrolet is excited about the fresh look and new techs of the all-new 2017 Chevrolet Sonic. The new Sonic will be embracing a look similar to its crossover counterpart, and will still be available in hatchback and sedan forms.
West Chevrolet and their customers have always been big fans of the Sonic, and the update won’t change anyone’s mind. The hood, front fascia, and headlights are all new, and the there is an optional LED accent lights and smaller grille package. The rear fascia and tail lamps have been redesigned as well.
One of the bigger design changes from the 2016 to the 2017 Sonic is the color palette. The 2017 Sonic’s color palette is even more extensive than before; offering hues including Orange Burst Metallic, Brimstone Cajun Red Tint coat, and Artic Blue Metallic. The new Sonic also has upgraded 15-, 16-, and 17-inch wheels.
The 2017 Sonic is still available in LS and LT Model, and the LTZ trim has been renamed Premier. However, the hatchback lineup has changed a bit more from the 2016 to the 2017 model. The RS treatment, which includes a stiffer suspension, sport exhaust, and a body kit, will be added to all Hatchback models. The sedan can also be upgraded to the RS package for a bit more excitement.
The 2017 Sonic interior will feature power driver’s seat, keyless entry and push-button start, heated cloth seats, and a heated steering wheel. Models with the 7.0-inch MyLink touchscreen will offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
There were no changes made to the 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine or the 1.4 liter turbo charged four, but the smaller turbo’s 148 pound-feet or torque is 23 stronger than the standard engine. Both engines still come with the six-speed automatic or six-speed manual.
West Chevrolet cannot wait for the 2017 Sonic to hit the lot come fall.

West Chevrolet anxiously awaits the 2017 Grand Sport
Big tires, aggressive aeronautics, and a 650 horsepower supercharged V8; The Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport has all this and more. It is the fastest, craziest, most insane vehicle on sale today. This track-focused car made its debut last month at the Geneva Motor Show.
West Chevrolet was ecstatic, when Chevrolet announced their release of the aggressive Grand Sport. It features 6.2L LT1 V8 engine is capable of 460 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque.
The Grand Sport’s aerodynamic package and carbon ceramic brakes are optional on the Grand Sport. Michelin Pilot Sport Cups are contained by flared fenders that are much wider than the Pilot Super Sports on a regular Stingray. The Grand Sport is only 0.6 seconds slower than the last-generation ZR1, despite being down 180-horsepower.
The Chevrolet Corvette has always been a favorite at West Chevrolet. With the new addition of the 2017 Grand Sport, West Chevrolet believes that Corvette sales will skyrocket. Although pricing has not been announced, it is believed that it will not break buyer’s banks.

West Chevrolet carries best full-size car
West Chevrolet was not surprised at all when Kbb.com placed
the 2016 Impala as one of the 2016 Best Buy winners, and also included it in
the Best Family Cars for 2016. The Impala tends to be a common vehicle seen on
the road, but inside, it feels like a premium or even luxury sedan. The
interior is upscale and features a large dashboard, leather seats, soft trim
and an 8-inch touch-screen command system in the center dashboard.
The 2016 Impala has three engine options available, all
which send power to the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission:
the 305 horsepower V6, a bi-fuel version that can run on gasoline or natural
gas (CNG), and the 4-cylinder engine.
West Chevrolet promises that the 2016 Chevy Impala treats
its’ owners in a first-class fashion, while keeping your finances under
control.
